Hey ladies, starting to wonder about myself as far as menopause is concerned. I have been reading up a little, and realizing i have had some symptoms for a few years but it seems it is increasing. For those of you who are going through or have already been through how did you deal with it all? The hot flashes and the moodiness are getting to me especially today.

When the hot flashes got very bad for me I went to my doctor and she prescribed an anti-depressant which helped me. I also don't wear shirts with collars that go up to my neck anymore. I made slushies to drink when I was having the hot flashes bad. Sometimes when I am moody it is best if I am alone. LOL But that is not always possible so I do try to be nice. I have to pray alot sometimes and go to the bathroom alot. LOL Again if you are having mood swings bad or trouble with moodiness I would suggest seeing your doctor about it.

Hi Jan lord knows I have struggled with menopause symptoms in the extreme sense. I have heard women end up in straight jackets because of menopause and I can certainly understand why. Initially i suffered terribly from depression, anxiety, insomnia and hot flushes so I went to my doctor. I was put on HRT patches which combated a lot of the problem, although it took a while to find the right one. I still go through the motions every 3 months or so so keep track of your symptoms on the calender. I guess the worse symptom that I struggle with is chronic insomnia and anxiety. I went to the health food store and picked up some hybericum liquid that you have a few drops in water. Taste god awful but does the trick when it comes to dealing with anxiety. It is all nature and is an extract from a hibiscus plant. You could also pick something up for sleep that is also natural that is not drug related. This works if the insomnia is only mild but if it is extreme I use something called Unisom sleep gel tabs which you can buy over the counter in a chemist. Whether they are on the US market is another thing though. They are not drugs any of these products. The unisom sleep gel tabs are also natural but they have a antihistermine in it that is really effective. Hope this helps

Thank you all for you shares.
Eve, i also have the disorder. And it certainly makes life interesting having both. I talked to my sponsor yesterday who shares my diagnosis and has already went through it and she told me how hard it was, but we can make it through. She gave me hope. Ya'll give me hope.

I'm 37 years old, but the doctors are telling me that my hormones are already starting to change and I may need Hormone Replacement Therapy. My mother refused HRT after her hysterectomy, she said she was fine (she has never been fine!!!)
I'm just saying, as I am dually diagnosed, I totally appreciate the significance of balance, and I have learned (the hard way) that my body isn't always able to maintain that balance with out help.
I would definately go see the doctor.

Hey there,
Although I didn't go through the menopause yet my sister did and she found yoga really helpful.
Ive done yoga for about a year now, and I find it a really amazing way of communicating with your body...its very gentle and comforting and there is so much more to it than a bunch of stretching!
perhaps you could give a class a try? Or do like I did first and start doing a few excercises from a book. Its amazingly effective, and you don't do anything that hurts.
Just a thought!
It has to be better than taking artificial hormones!

sorry Jan - i don't have any experience in this area - but I too have some questions?
so I wonder what is the first symptom? I did'nt miss a period - but I started two weeks early and now my schedule is messed up. There is no way I can be pregnant - cause my tubes are lazered and cut. - had that done when I was 26.
I looked at some of the symptoms
headaches
insomnia
missed or frequent periods
mood swings
hot flashes
anxiety
depression
I'm 46 soon to be 47 and am wondering - which symptom comes frist - or do they happen randomely?
I have the headaches and insomnia - but I have had those for years.....
the messed up menstruel cycle has me worried - cause I don't usually react to stress that way...and it is the first time I have been early in like 14 years!
just wondering
isn't 46 too early?
