We serve God by sharing His Word with others.

Jesus wants to be what's most precious to you.

God wants you to so love Him that nothing on earth will hinder you from doing so.

God is at work all around us. Open your eyes to see his miracles.

We hop for joy because we hope in Jesus! --Sandy Hargrove

The shortest distance between a problem and a solution is the distance
between your knees and the floor.

There is never a day when we don't need to pray.

Trying to pray is praying.

Walk humbly with God: practice the presence of Him in our daily affairs, ask Him for strength to face each new day, turn to Him often during the day in prayer for ourselves and others, thank God at night for the blessings we have received during the day.

God sees all that is happening in my life.

"Thy will be done" is always the right prayer.

Hold on loosely to this world and tightly to God.

RELYING ON GOD
The following two news stories come from Reuters:
"A Ukraine businessman who bought a pager for each member of his staff as a New Year gift was so alarmed when all 50 of them went off at the same time that he drove his car into a lamp post. The unnamed businessman was returning from the pager shop when the accident happened," the Fakty daily newspaper reported. "With no more than 100 metres to go to the office, the 50 pagers on the back seat suddenly burst out screeching. The businessman's fright was such that he simply let go of the steering wheel and the car ploughed into a lamp post. After he had assessed the damage to the car, the businessman turned his attention to the message on the 50 pagers. It read: 'Congratulations on a successful purchase!' "
"Normally accidents like this shouldn't happen," reasoned a Caputh, Germany, police spokesman. "A motorist following driving instructions on the satellite navigation computer in his BMW drove down a ferry ramp into the Havel River without realizing the only way he could cross the river was to wait for the ferry. The 57-year-old driver was not injured. This sort of thing can happen when people rely too much on technology."
We do rely a lot on technology, don't we? From pagers and satellite navigation systems to cell phones and fax machines, we have become more and more dependent upon our world of technology. It is important, though, that we step back every now and then and remind ourselves, "We can survive without all these gadgets, but we cannot survive without God."
In Psalm 20, David expressed it this way:
"Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the LORD our God." (Psalm 20:7)
Chariots and horses were certainly not wrong; no more so than modern gadgets. But it was necessary to reinforce the truth that our faith is not in such things, but in God Almighty.
Have a great day! --Alan Smith

Are you seeking the gifts or the Giver?
Sometimes we get so caught up in seeking God's presents that we forget all about His presence! God wants every believer to remain in His presence and have a personal relationship with Him just like you would with any other friend.
King David knew the importance of seeking God's presence and dwelling with Him. In Psalm 27:4, David writes, One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. David set himself to seek and require one thing--God's presence.
The next two verses (Psalm 27:5-6) tell us the rewards of seeking God: For in the day of trouble He will keep me safe in His dwelling; He will hide me in the shelter of His tabernacle and set me high upon a rock. Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at His tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the Lord.
The rewards of seeking God are awesome; not only will you develop a closer relationship with God, but you will also find true joy and contentment.
Psalm 16:11 says, You will fill me with joy in your presence. In other words, joy is found in God's presence--not His presents! Therefore, evaluate your life to make sure that you're seeking God, not just His gifts. --Weekly Wisdom

COME TO ME
Where do you go when you are empty? Where to you go when your batteries are low, or drained and you have no energy and your spirits are low? What do you do when you are burdened and weary and wondering if you have what it takes to keep going?
Sound familiar? Have you been there? Are you there now?
Jesus understands those feelings. He offers a suggestion.
"Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me-watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly." (Matthew 11:28-30, The Message)
Jesus said, "Come to me." Sounds like He may be saying turn down the noise. Shut off the racket. Get away from the crowds. Go to Him. Go to where He is. Spend time with Him.
The passage expands the thought when He says, "Get away with me and you'll recover your life." Sounds like it is not going to happen unless we do what He says, "Get away with Him."
We need to be alone with Him.
"Walk with me and work with me--watch how I do it . . . Keep company with me . . . " You cannot walk with someone when you are not with them. You cannot watch how they work from a
distance. Jesus wants us to walk with Him, watch how He lives and works.
All those things require something of us that we are reluctant to give: Our time. Our complete and undivided attention is what He is asking. As hard as it may to give it, it is obvious that we
cannot receive the benefits unless we go with Him, walk with Him, keep company with Him, and watch how He works.
What is the promise? "I'll show you how to take a real rest." "You'll learn to live freely and lightly." That's what we are looking for. Rest. The free life. There is it. Right there in our grasp.
All we have to do is go to Jesus.
Sounds like it is worth the sacrifice.
Let's go. Let's rest. Let live. Let's spend time with Jesus. --Tom

A fourteenth-century Italian stained-glass artist was summoned to design a huge portrait for the window of a cathedral in Chartres, France. He laid all of the pieces he was going to use out on the floor of the cathedral. They were beautiful to behold; most of them were large and colorful. Some of the colors from that time cannot even be reproduced today. Among these awesome pieces of glass was a small, clear piece about as big as your fingernail.
As the stained-glass portrait was assembled, that little piece remained on the floor. Only the big colorful pieces of glass were used. On the day of the window’s completion, the tiny piece of clear glass was still lying on the ground.
The entire city gathered to witness the unveiling of the brilliant and beautiful stained-glass portrait. The artist stood in front of the crowd, made his speech, and dramatically pulled down the cloth cover. The crowd gasped at the beauty of the colorful window glowing in the sunlight. After a few seconds, however, the crowd grew silent. They sensed that something was missing, that the portrait was unfinished.
The great artist then walked over to where the little clear piece of glass lay, picked it up, and placed it in the portrait, right in the center of Jesus’ eye. As the sun hit that little piece, it gave off a dazzling sparkle. The magnificent stained glass window still draws visitors. The first thing they see is that sparkle in Jesus’ eye.
Do you ever feel like that little piece of clear glass? You doubt you can ever do anything for God. Let the story of that last little piece remind you that God thinks of you as the apple of his eye. (Psalm 17:8). It doesn’t matter that in your eyes you don’t measure up to others; you are an important to God. That is why He sent His Son Jesus to die for you. Live for God, on purpose, knowing that He loves you with an everlasting love. --firstIMPRESSIONS

Daniel and the Lion’s Den
Daniel 6:16 says “So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lion’s den. The king said to Daniel, ’may your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you!’”
No question, Daniel got a rough deal. He was set up by jealous, lesser men who wanted him out of the way. It seemed like they succeeded, except for one thing they overlooked: Daniel’s trust in God.
The interesting thing, however, about Daniel being thrown into the den of lions is that God didn’t deliver him out of the den before Daniel found deliverance in it. Imagine if Daniel had fought against being thrown into the den (which he would have been justified in doing) and gone into the den fighting against it every inch of the way, chances are the lions would have torn him to shreds before he hit the bottom. But Daniel didn’t. He accepted his lot and trusted his life to God who shut the lion’s mouths.
On more than one occasion I have asked God that if I am not going to be delivered out of my “lion’s den” (naming the frustrating situation I’m in), would he please deliver me in it.
Sometimes, like Daniel, God has a lesson for us to learn in our present difficult situation and before he delivers us out of it, like Daniel, we need to find deliverance in it. --First Impressions

What About Your Pocket?
A serviceman once wrote about a moment of comedy he had witnessed in the army. It happened during a company inspection at the Redstone Arsenal in Alabama.
The inspection was being conducted by a full colonel. Everything had gone smoothly until the officer came to a certain soldier, looked him up and down and snapped, “Button that pocket, trooper!”
The soldier, more than a little rattled, stammered, “Right now, sir?”
“Of course, right now!” was the reply.
Whereupon the soldier very carefully reached out and buttoned the flap on the colonel’s shirt pocket. The officer had been quick to note the youngster’s uniform problem, but hadn’t noticed his own.
For some reason, we seem to be the same way. The faults of others stick out like a missing tooth, while our own are often hard to spot. Small specks in other people seem major, while the planks in our own eye seem excusable (Matthew 7:1-5).
Let’s quit dwelling on the faults of others all the time. We need builders and workers-not a wrecking crew. Work on your own faults, then seek to help others in a spirit of gentleness. --Author Unknown

A Sign From God
If the clouds are full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth; and if a tree falls to the south or the north, in the place where the tree falls, there it shall lie. He who observes the wind will not sow, and he who regards the clouds will not reap. As you do not know what is the way of the wind, or how the bones grow in the womb of her who is with child, so you do not know the works of God who makes everything. (Ecclesiastes 11:3-5)
Months ago, I felt so desperate for God to change my circumstances that I began to get caught up in looking for ‘signs’ from God with things that were happening around me. The Bible talks about a ‘word of knowledge’ and ‘sign of the times’ but I was trying to figure out what God was going to do and when He would do it, depending on the problem I was dealing with that day. I didn't realize how much I had gotten caught-up in this mentality until one morning I read the scripture in Ecclesiastes 11:3-5. He was simply telling me that sometimes ‘a cigar is just a cigar.’ If the clouds are full, it rains. If a tree falls whichever way, it lies there. There is no other meaning to it. I hadn't looked for signs in the clouds or trees, but I knew what God was saying just the same….Don't make something out of nothing when there is nothing to it in the first place. He also made me realize that I was treating Him like a puppet on a string. I didn't mean to and I didn't realize I was doing this until He exposed the lie and I saw it for what it was.
What a precious and merciful God we have. He teaches us so lovingly by opening our eyes to the Truth, sets us back on the right path and nudges us forward. . .no doubt, with a huge
smile on His face! --Cheryl Taul

Finding God (in the Trash)
A few years ago I wrote and published a book titled "Finding God Where You Least Expect Him." It's all about learning to think in such a way as to be constantly discovering God in our lives and in the world around us. Well I recently received an email from a mother/daughter janitorial team that found God in the least likely place -- in the trashcan! I must say, that is one place I wouldn't have thought of looking.
Turns out one of their janitorial clients is the local newspaper office where finding books in the trash is a common occurrence due to the large number of promotional books publishers send to the newspaper for potential reviews. And here's the fun and ironic part -- what they found was my book! That's right, they found my book about finding God where you least expect Him, in the trash. I wasn't sure how to take this until I read on.
"Well, what a blessing to find your book in the trash," they wrote. "Can you believe that? Well we are happy because it's one of the most inspiring books we have read."
It's one of my finest endorsements -- a compliment, not only to the message of the book, but to the gospel as well. The gospel seems to always deal in treasure and trash. Here they were finding something valuable among things normally discarded. The parallel between this and how God finds us should not be wasted.
I think you could safely say that God is always pulling us out of the trash. And in finding us there, He also finds a part of Himself, since we are all in His image. This is one of the reasons He looks for us. He is completing the picture He started at creation. He is bringing us together as a display of His grace in the universe. And He rummages through the trash to do it, turning rubbish into something that will bring Him great glory.
This story is not only about God finding us; it's also about us finding each other, too. These women found me and in turn I found them. And it all happened in a trashcan. Amazing what God can do! Don't sell God short. He can show up anywhere and use anything, so be ready. --John Fischer

Small Straws In A Soft Wind by Marsha Burns
You've heard the old adage, looking for love in all the wrong places. I say that many of you, My people, are not only looking for love in the wrong places, but you are looking for answers in the wrong places. Try receiving love from Me, for it is an eternal love that will never disappoint. Try asking Me for wisdom, for I will answer every time. Try reading My Word to establish a foundation of truth in your heart, says the Lord. These are the right places that will produce everlasting life, love, joy and peace.
James 1:5-8 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double–minded man, unstable in all his ways.
James 3:15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self–seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

Beloved, you are about to arise and come up. You are going to grow up and ascend to a new spiritual level. Many of you have been isolated and separated from the Body of Christ because of disappointment and wounding. But, I tell you that the time is coming when your wounds will be healed. The scars will remain, but the pain will be gone. You will be restored to true fellowship with members of My Body, says the Lord, for truly I am gathering My people to establish My kingdom in the unity of the Spirit and in the bond of peace.
Ephesians 4:1-6 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

The enemy is bringing temptation to compromise for fear of being rejected. Rise up, My people, and do not put your righteousness in jeopardy. Maintain truth and your kingdom position no matter the cost. For I say that your true acceptance comes from Me and is eternal. Man's approval is for the moment and is temporary. Refuse to cave in to the pressure to choose the temporary above the eternal, says the Lord.
Proverbs 29:25 The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD shall be safe.

You are on a fast track to fulfilling your destiny. I have gone before you to make the crooked places straight and the rough places smooth. Let Me lead you in this well-choreographed dance so that every step you take will be in perfect rhythm to the sound of My voice. Refuse to be distracted by the chaos that is around you and the other voices that demand your attention. Stay completely focused on Me, says the Lord.
Isaiah 40:4 Every valley shall be exalted and every mountain and hill brought low; the crooked places shall be made straight and the rough places smooth.

To the faithful, I show myself faithful. So, My people, I call you forth into the realm of faithfulness, and I admonish you to be loyal to My kingdom purposes. Be steadfast and resolute in obeying My word. Then, you shall enter the blessing flow and be prosperous in all that you set your hand to do, for I will lead you into the land that flows with milk and honey, and I will direct your steps, says the Lord.
Psalm 1:1-3 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.

If you never went through difficulties, how would you know that I’m a Deliverer?
If you never had a trial, how could you call yourself an overcomer?
If you never felt sadness, how would you know that I’m a Comforter?
If you never made a mistake, how would you know that I’m forgiving?
If you knew it all, how would you know that I will answer your questions?
If you never were in trouble, how would you know that I will come to your rescue?
If you never were broken, then how would you know that I can make you whole?
If you never had a problem, how would you know that I can solve them?
If you never had any suffering, then how would you know what Jesus went through?
If you never went through the fire, then how would you become pure?
If I gave you all things, how would you appreciate them?
If I never corrected you, how would you know that I love you?
If you had all power, then how would you learn to depend on me?
If your life was perfect, then what would you need Me for?
THANK YOU, GOD!

"A MERRY-GO-ROUND"
Life is just like a merry-go-round,
sometimes it's up, and sometimes it's down.
Sometimes it's so hard to push and jump on,
all those bill collectors
calling me on my phone.
Those weekdays are speeding by so fast,
I'm wondering if by the weekend, I can last.
All those chores that I have to do,
keep spinning around in my head till I am so blue.
It would be so nice to have some rest,
So I could slow down, and be my very best.
Where does it stop and where will it end,
this merry-go-round that I'm on, is in a spin.
It's going so fast, it's making me dizzy,
no wonder I'm having it so hard, I'm in a tizzy.
I think I understand what prayer will do,
It will take a load off your mind and bless you too.
This merry-go-round won't seem so fast,
If all those heavy burdens on Him you cast.
I tried out prayer to see what it would do,
then I began to coaster down and you can too.
I still have problems but they seem small
I turn them over to God, He handles them all.
This merry-go-round doesn't seem to stop,
So when it gets too hard to handle, on my knees I drop.
Just try this instead of complaining okay?
You'll find out before long, this is the best way.
When I find something that helps others,
I want to share it with all my sisters and brothers.
If I've helped you, and you understand,
please give those that you meet a helping hand.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6

May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word. 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17

Made Alive in Christ
As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:1-10

Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. Romans 10:17

Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. Isaiah 43:18

It is the LORD your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him. Deuteronomy 13:4

Continue
If you’re born again and have the Word of God in your heart, you can live in victory. You may not have all the answers. There may be a great many spiritual things you don’t understand. But it’s not those things that are most likely to destroy you. It’s the things you know to do—but don’t—that usually make you fall.
Just think about walking at night down a dark, unfamiliar path in the middle of a jungle. The guide up ahead has a flashlight to keep you on the right path. But then, you just decide to wander off into the darkness by yourself.
What do you think will happen to you? You’ll probably stumble and fall. Very likely, you’ll get hurt.
That’s exactly the same thing that can happen in your walk with the Lord. He knows what’s ahead and He shines just enough light for you to take one step at a time. You have to continue walking in that light in order to get where you’re going.
You may not know why He’s leading you a certain way. You may not understand all the things involved. But God will make up for your ignorance by the Holy Spirit. He’ll see to it that you have victory if you continue in what you know.
It’s good to keep studying. It’s good to keep learning. But, remember, it’s not the great revelation you haven’t yet had that will cause you the most trouble. It’s failing to walk in the ones God has already given you. So be faithful in those things. Continue in them day after day after day. You’ll make it through just fine! --Author Unknown

Read Through The Bible
Genesis 44
A Silver Cup in a Sack
1 Now Joseph gave these instructions to the steward of his house: "Fill the men's sacks with as much food as they can carry, and put each man's silver in the mouth of his sack. 2 Then put my cup, the silver one, in the mouth of the youngest one's sack, along with the silver for his grain." And he did as Joseph said. 3 As morning dawned, the men were sent on their way with their donkeys. 4 They had not gone far from the city when Joseph said to his steward, "Go after those men at once, and when you catch up with them, say to them, 'Why have you repaid good with evil? 5 Isn't this the cup my master drinks from and also uses for divination? This is a wicked thing you have done.' "6 When he caught up with them, he repeated these words to them. 7 But they said to him, "Why does my lord say such things? Far be it from your servants to do anything like that! 8 We even brought back to you from the land of Canaan the silver we found inside the mouths of our sacks. So why would we steal silver or gold from your master's house? 9 If any of your servants is found to have it, he will die; and the rest of us will become my lord's slaves."10 "Very well, then," he said, "let it be as you say. Whoever is found to have it will become my slave; the rest of you will be free from blame."11 Each of them quickly lowered his sack to the ground and opened it. 12 Then the steward proceeded to search, beginning with the oldest and ending with the youngest. And the cup was found in Benjamin's sack. 13 At this, they tore their clothes. Then they all loaded their donkeys and returned to the city. 14 Joseph was still in the house when Judah and his brothers came in, and they threw themselves to the ground before him. 15 Joseph said to them, "What is this you have done? Don't you know that a man like me can find things out by divination?" 16 "What can we say to my lord?" Judah replied. "What can we say? How can we prove our innocence? God has uncovered your servants' guilt. We are now my lord's slaves—we ourselves and the one who was found to have the cup." 17 But Joseph said, "Far be it from me to do such a thing! Only the man who was found to have the cup will become my slave. The rest of you, go back to your father in peace." 18 Then Judah went up to him and said: "Please, my lord, let your servant speak a word to my lord. Do not be angry with your servant, though you are equal to Pharaoh himself. 19 My lord asked his servants, 'Do you have a father or a brother?' 20 And we answered, 'We have an aged father, and there is a young son born to him in his old age. His brother is dead, and he is the only one of his mother's sons left, and his father loves him.' 21 "Then you said to your servants, 'Bring him down to me so I can see him for myself.' 22 And we said to my lord, 'The boy cannot leave his father; if he leaves him, his father will die.' 23 But you told your servants, 'Unless your youngest brother comes down with you, you will not see my face again.' 24 When we went back to your servant my father, we told him what my lord had said. 25 "Then our father said, 'Go back and buy a little more food.' 26 But we said, 'We cannot go down. Only if our youngest brother is with us will we go. We cannot see the man's face unless our youngest brother is with us.' 27 "Your servant my father said to us, 'You know that my wife bore me two sons. 28 One of them went away from me, and I said, "He has surely been torn to pieces." And I have not seen him since. 29 If you take this one from me too and harm comes to him, you will bring my gray head down to the grave in misery.' 30 "So now, if the boy is not with us when I go back to your servant my father and if my father, whose life is closely bound up with the boy's life, 31 sees that the boy isn't there, he will die. Your servants will bring the gray head of our father down to the grave in sorrow. 32 Your servant guaranteed the boy's safety to my father. I said, 'If I do not bring him back to you, I will bear the blame before you, my father, all my life!' 33 "Now then, please let your servant remain here as my lord's slave in place of the boy, and let the boy return with his brothers. 34 How can I go back to my father if the boy is not with me? No! Do not let me see the misery that would come upon my father."
