Absolute desperation

by Bruce Wadd

The commentators were riveted to the game of rugby league. It was eighty minutes of fast and furious running filled with body-punishing blows. Every player was giving 100%!

The gap in the final score didn't really reflect the commitment from both teams - the praises flowed freely!

"They have tried their hearts out..." shared one of the presenters towards the end of the broadcast. [Sadly, my team was beaten on that night, but I was so proud of their commitment!]

What is it about humanity? Something rises up inside when we witness people giving their all! Beyond sport, I am humbled and inspired when I hear of someone’s plight, where they given up everything to achieve their goal.

But human sacrifice shrinks when compared with the blood, tears, sweat, but most importantly, the deep love of Jesus our Saviour. Picture Him hanging on the cross looking over the humanity in front of Him...

"Father,

forgive these people,

for they don't know what

they are doing."

Luke 23:34a

Here was the God of the universe, allowing His creations to kill Him so that they (you and I included) could have a chance - now that's...
absolute commitment!
