Friendship
Remember, as Christians we all make mistakes. If something we say offends you or you believe it is theologically incorrect, please let us know. We are young and make mistakes, and we are willing to go back and study to correct something said that may have been wrong.

We all have friends, but how many of them are true friends that we can trust? It is important to be able to trust your friends. But if you cannot trust someone, are they really your friend?

In Judges 9, Abimelech and the people of Shechem were plotting to make Abimelech king. It is made clear in this story that people who work together to do wrong aren't really friends because they can't trust each other. Friendship is not based on doing wrong, it is based on having a level of trust as all relationships are. As friendships become better, you learn that you can trust each other, and if you can't, they're probably not a friend.

Some people wonder if when they become a Christian whether or not they should stop hanging out with their non-Christian friends. In 1 Kings 5:3-11, the Bible talks about the relationship between Solomon and his friend, Hiram king of Tyre. Solomon asked Hiram for materials to build a temple to the Lord, and Hiram gave him the materials that he needed. The two men had a good friendship for many years even though they did not worship the same God. Hiram did nothing to encourage Solomon to disobey God. God does not expect us to abandon our non-Christian friends unless they are tempting us to sin. If all goes well, the person may see a difference in you and you would be able to lead them to become a Christian.

We should also let our Christian friends be an important part in our walk with Christ. The support of our Christian friends is very important. I read something that suggested that a group of two or three Christian friends get together and just talk about things that are going on in your life and encourage each other. Hebrews 10:24 says that we should "spur one another on toward love and good deeds." It will be much easier to stand strong in your Christian commitment if you know that you have others who are standing with you.

So to sum it all up, one should build friendships with friends that they can trust. We should also try to lead our non-Christian friends to God and stay with them unless they tempt us to do wrong. And make sure that we can talk with our friends about our faith, our problems or anything else that we need to talk to them about.

Please read this carefully and pass it on to all your family and friends. Please note that these verses come from the NIV.

Smile, God loves you.<><
