THE LORD'S REWARD
How happy are those who fear the LORD—all who follow his ways!
You will enjoy the fruit of your labor.
How happy you will be! How rich your life!
Your wife will be like a fruitful vine,
flourishing within your home.
And look at all those children!
There they sit around your table
as vigorous and healthy as young olive trees.
That is the LORD'S reward for those who fear him.
May the LORD continually bless you from Zion.
May you see Jerusalem prosper as long as you live.
May you live to enjoy your grandchildren.
And may Israel have quietness and peace.
Psalm 128
When I read this early this morning, my heart filled with overflowing praise for God. For over fourteen years He has been speaking to me and teaching me to trust Him. It has been a hard road at times, and way too many times I failed. Yet, when I followed the steps He gave me, He always lifted me up. I share those steps with you ¾ again.
T - Turn your eyes on Jesus and off of people.
R - Recognize where you are and how you got there.
U - Untangle yourself from your past.
S - Speak the truth in love to yourself and to others.
T - Talk to someone when you are hurting and tell others what Jesus has done.
Satan wants us to focus on others in a negative way. He will use other people in our lives to get our focus off of God somehow. We will either be jealous of what others have or caught up in their lives to the point that we forget to reverence God.
Satan also wants us to blame God for our circumstances, when most of the time it is our wrong choices that bring us to depression or difficult times.
Satan wants us to live in the past, remembering the bad times and thinking of ourselves as less than nothing, or better than someone else. We are simply sinners saved by grace or saints who sometimes sin.
Satan wants us to wear masks of goodness and hide the truth of who we really are. Only when we walk in the truth and keep our sins confessed can we find joy.
Satan wants us to be alone in our struggles with sickness and depression. He doesn't want us to be ministered to or receive encouragement from others, much less share with others what Jesus has done for us.
So, today make a decision to reverence God. Focus on Him. Worship Him. Trust Him for the very air around you. Trust Him even when you fall. Let Him turn your pain into progress; your woes to wows! And may you truly live to experience the joy of a grandchild's head resting on your bosom!
