We must be on guard so that we never get caught up in wanting our own way as they did. We must never try to get Christ to serve us instead of us serving him; don't be so naive and self-confident. You're not exempt. You could fall flat on your face as easily as anyone else. Forget about self-confidence; it's useless. Cultivate God-confidence. (1 Corinthians 10:6, 9, 12 — The Message)
Life is not about us! A relationship with God is not about us! They are all about God. We were not put on Earth and saved to make God our personal “beck-and-call boy”. He is not here to fulfill our every whim and earthly desire. We were created by Him, for Him. He has given us everything—our life, our breath, our sight, our hearing, all of our abilities, our talents, desires and longings. They all are given to us by God for Him. There is nothing that we have or can do that is a result of our own efforts. Our confidence should not be in our abilities but in God and how He can use us and move through the abilities He gave us.
If we think we are anything without God we will, at some point, fall flat on our face and we will fall hard. But if we understand that all that we have comes from God and we put our confidence in Him we will stand. We will stand through the trials and temptations. Trust not in your own ways and understanding but trust in God.
