Day of penance. Romans 7:18-25. Teach me your laws, O Lord. Ps 118(119):66, 68, 76-77, 93-94. Luke 12:54-59.
‘You do not know how to interpret these times!’
Lord, I want to be an instrument of your peace in this world. I want to help others, but so often I slip back into those well-worn habits of mine. I’m good at justifying my mistakes too. But my actions must often disappoint you. Help me to understand myself.
Help me to see what is really important in my world, so that I may be reconciled and at peace with you and with others. In a world of high technology, help me to see what the consequences of my failures can mean to others.
If I am in a state of civil war within myself, how can I expect to be an instrument of your peace? Help me to set my heart in order so that I may help others to do the same.
