welcome hippy, i had four years clean that i let go of during a bad divorce too. i had stopped maintaining a diverse support network after i married and started a family. when things went bad, i didnt have anywhere to turn and went back to what i knew best. its been 6 years and i am still struggling to get clean and sober. i've got 17 days and am trying to reach out to the fellowship again.

good luck to you! :D

Hello all!! My name is Michelle and I am a recovering addict and alcoholic! My DOS is 6-21-06! My 2 yr is coming fast and I decided to find somewhere online to chat with people as I tend to get busy and make very few meetings anymore. My hubby and I went to rehab together and have the same sobriety date! That is truly a blessing! We have two daughters and are still learning to live one day at a time. Is it me or does life tend to just take over sometimes and all of a sudden you ask yourself "where did the day go"?

This is my fist attempt to get clean and sober. Its so scary, and I feel really alone and sad. I am looking foward to using this as one of my tools to get back on the right path. Im scared that im going to fail. Really im just scared.

Hello robert,
Welcome to CRF, its nice to meet you.
Yes you are in the right place to post......You are doing the best and right thing by reaching out, it is how we begin. I too am an acoholic/addict and was so lost for 20yrs, ever since begining recovery (aug-31-2003) life has been better than i could have ever even imagined. This site has been of great comfort & support to me along with my meetings. I pray it does the same for you. It would be a wonderful idea to get to an AA or NA meeting in your area as soon as possible. The face to face support of others who truly understand will help this prosses tremendously. Please keep coming back and sharing with us here. We would all like to wish you much love and many blessings on your journey of recovery and discovery.

Hi, Everyone. Nice to be here. I found this site when I was going through a little turmoil. I have eight years clean and sober (thank God) and had a recent incident involving taking a hit of poppers (amyl nitrate) I had a talk with my sponsor/friend in Hawaii who gave some good advise.Know poppers is a "drug" especially if taken repeatedly. I did not want to have to change my clean time and learned a good lesson. I had left a message on my sponsors voice mail and had not heard back for a while...that's when I signed on here the first time. I did not leave a message then because I really wanted to talk to him first. Hope to continue here. Thanks!!-----John in San Francisco

Hi, I'm Paul Addict, clean since 1990, living in NC and back in the halls, AA until I locate an NA meeting I can connect with; looking for step and speaker meetings so I can get my head screwed back on.. I haven't been disconnected from the program but the fellowship took a back seat while I transitioned from New England. Staying clean daily is a journey , lately I've been put on Vicodin's for Oral Surgery and had to put them down abruptly becuase I am afraid of this disease, I couldn't take them with certainty that I won't abuse them. they are calling my name as I write this, I think the tooth really hurts... no it doesn't.... are you sure, you didn't feel that.... (get the drift) so I'm reaching out for help, and hoping to find it here..

Hi everyone, My name is Janelle and I am an Addict. I came across this site in search of a thorough and extensive list of character defects; I am currently working my 6th step out of the flat book (N.A. step working guide) and have been for over a year now, I hit a road block around this time last year. At first I though that I was having a hard time with this step because I just didn't have any defects, (seriously I'm sick) then I fluffed it off as laziness, lately I'm begining to realize that I just need a little help and since I've waited this long to seek and/or ask for it my recovery's been at a standstill... ha, go figure, can't do it alone. Pain is a great motivator and boy am I in some so if anyone has a list of character defects I could begin to work from please hook a sister up! :21:
So I joined this site in hopes to get help and perhaps help someone else while I'm at it, after all that is how this thing works. It's cool to find a place other then inside meeting rooms where people get together to talk about recovery and I look forward to getting to know some people outside my area. My area is CMANA - Central Massachusetts Area AKA 'the best area in N.A.' :1: My clean date is January 6, 2005 and I am an N.A. baby all the way - born and raised. I love Narcotics Anonymous, it saved my life, I am definitely an N.A. Cheerleader!!! :12:

Hi, my name is Liisa and my husband is a crack addict. I have an 11 year old son, which is where they major anxiety comes in. We have a child protection service involved in our lives, for which I am thankful, as they have indicated that my husband is NOT allowed to be left unsupervised with our son and he knows it. However, I am feeling very alone as there seem to be no other consequences to him for his addiction. They have "forced" him into a drug rehab program which has not proven to be effective thus far and I am in fear of losing my home because of the disruption to our lives.

Like I said. I just want to listen for now. My family may as well have been there with Bill W. They think they discovered alcohol. Right now I am just trying to cope with bipolar disease, and all the crap the family had to offer. How can I just listen for now?

Please don't overdo it. (My mother put me in Ala-teen/therapy at age 6. Did more harm than good.) I just need to know there are others out there. By the way, I moved halfway around the world to escape them.

Enough for now. I'm tired. It's 12:45 a.m. here where I am.

Good night

Fia :6:

Hi Sofia. Look around the board and see what others are sharing about. That is a way you can get to know us and see who you can relate to. I can relate to being bipolar. It has been under control for a while now thankfully. We all live a day at a time seeking progress in our recovery.

Hi Mike. We are glad you have found us too. Look around the board and make yourself at home.

Hi Lisa, hi sofia and mike. Welcome! Lisa, I do not know what to say except you have to follow the child protective's rules. My daughter was on drugs and very wild. I tried to go to court to have her "put away" so she would stop harming herself. I did not call the cops on her when she staid out all night eventhough I knew where she was at and I got in trouble by CPS. My daughter would not go to school, she would not stay home, she would yell and cuss and throw big fits, she would not go to treatment. After my ex husband and I got in big trouble for her actions and the court threw out her case, we just let her go. She was 16 and a half. She wanted to be "free" so we let her without giving her money. After a year or so she finally grew up. She realized how hard it was out there and that the people that she thought where her friends where not going to support her or put up with her,so she had to grow up. Now she is back with me, going to college and working part time. She is only "crazy" with her boyfriend and a real pleasure to have around. She no longer does drugs or drinks although I'm sure she smokes pot once in a while, but not around me or in my house. You might have to let your man go to save yourslef and your child even if you have to lose your home in the process. You'll lose your home anyway if your man is still on crack because they sell everything or do not work to get money for rent... It goes on and on. Funny my daughter's real father did drugs and I was clean, but I did not want to live with a druggy,so I was the one to move out and take my daughter with me. Boy was he mad,but only for a little bit. he foudn another woman to put up wiht his BS. It hurt, but it would have hurt more if I would have stayed with him. Good luck. It's all so hard, but we have to look at the choices we make too and why we where with a druggy in the first place and what are we going to do to make sure no drugs are in our lives again. Soemthing to think about.

Hi, my name's Mark and I"m an alcoholic. I started sobriety on June 7th of this year, though I've relapsed twice since then (including last night). I've got a sponsor and am regularly attending meetings again at the wonderful York Street Club here in Denver.

(this is from the show "West Wing")

A man is walking down the street and falls in a hole. He calls for help until a priest hears him. The priest says a prayer for the man then walks on. The man keeps calling for a help, until a rabbi stops. The rabbi says a blessing then moves on. A third man, who happens to know our man in the hole, hears his pleas for help and promptly jumps in the hole. The first man is dumbstruck. "What'd you do that for, dummy?! Now we're both stuck!" That's true," the second man says. "But I've been down here before, and I know the way out."

Blessings to all and thanks for the privilege of being here!

I have been clean for 10 years but it's not always easy, I look at my kids and it stops me from being the way I used to be but I still get these cravings, then I want to just go inside myself and pull away from everyone. I am a working musician and music means a lot to me so I put on my earphones and disappear with an excuse. I know I get a bit snippy at these times, and I know my wife knows what I used to be but she don't really understand, although she has been more than "understanding" about it. I think having a place to express my thoughts with others that have been there would really be helpful for me, and maybe I can be helpful to others out there who knows these feelings, and fight the thing that makes being locked in the bathroom with a U-100 and a spoon seem right. I am sorry if this is long winded but it's 10 years worth of thought coming out.
Bless you all
Tom

hey tb welcome , jojo here , i too am an ex junkie musician , would love to share with ya..
do u attend a fellowship of other recovering addicts? i am a member of cocaine anonymous , have bounced in and out alot untill i got serious about changing my life , not just gettin rid of the dope but gettin rid of who i used to be completely.. and the ol 12 steps done worked wonders on me..

tombob
11-23-2008, 11:53 PM
Hi, I don't attend any fellowships, I think now it would probably do me good, I actually had a girlfriend when I was at my worst try to get me to go to any 12 step, she was a coke user and went to AA, she said it was the first meeting she found when she needed it and bonded with that group. I withdrew from all the people I ran with, I ended up moving to Nashville for several years, it seemed easier for me to just start over but I really think having someplace to talk would do me a world of good.

oh man u have no idea , really , i kinda assumed that from your share , i could sense the lonliness and confusion.. u dont have to feel alone anymore
u can hang out with a bunch a junkies still , we just dont use anymore.. and we are out to find joy , and freedom and friendship ...cmon on into the 12step chat (see link above ) and get started , and i can also help you find local groups if ya want , where ya located.. i am in atlanta , but still travel a bit with bands and always find a good meeting. and know lots of other musicians in this fellowship.

We are very glad you are here tombob. In the 12-step program i learned i dont have to be alone again. Both NA and AA are wonderful. I have been more active in NA for a few years and the experience, strength, and hope of others is priceless. Keep coming back and keep sharing.

Hi
I am a recovered alcoholic member of AA sober since Oct 31 1976.My name is Mike and I am married to my high school sweetheart for 47 years; we have 3 children and 8 grandchildren. We are retired now and I still attend at least two meetings a week and more sometimes. I love AA for what it has given us and try to be grateful on a daily basis. It is not always doable as I often lose it. The only thing I have done well is the first step, the rest of the steps come hard for me, but it does work.
If I can share any of my sobriety with anyone I am happy to do so.

Regards to all
Mcbat

Hello fellow addicts and alcoholics. I'm John and I'm an addict. I am from Harrisonburg VA and a member of NA in the BRANA area. My clean date is 11/06/2008, but I have been in the program since early September. I've picked up half a dozen white key tags since being welcomed into the fellowship but have kept coming back and feel like my head is at least pointing in the right direction now. I have been doing prep work for the Step One which I will formally begin working with my sponsor when I make 30 days and am excited about that.
I have been looking for an online fellowship to gain additional support in my recovery, and give something back, HP willing. Thanks for being here.

Hi, I'm not actually in recovery, but spend every day talking, learning, and hopefully, teaching it. I am a Counselor in Training at a Long Term Intensive Treatment Center for Women and their Children, and have worked here for 3 1/2 years. I found your site while researching ideas for groups for my women, and your site blew me away. I have found some truly amazing information, and my clients really seem to enjoy it. I've told lots of my people about your site for when they finish our program. I basically wanted to say Thank You for being here for the addicted community, and ya'll are an awesome support network!

Hi. I'm in my first week of recovery. Although I hesitate to call it recovery this early in the stage.. so I'm not sure where I am right now. All I know is that I have to consciously make the choice to not drink on a day to day basis. Everyday that goes by that I don't drink, is one more day that I have gained in life. I wasted so many years of my life drinking. I want to live.. not just get by anymore.

I'm glad you decided to find the real you. I'm new to this forum but
have been clean and sober for 20 years. I did it one day at a time and
you can too. We have a saying where I come from and it goes like this,
"Go to meetings, read the big book, and don't drink even if your ass falls off"

hello i am new to cyber recovery, I am not new to recovery. I went through several recovery programs only to relapse over the last 2 years after a year clean. I only smoke weed now opposed to alcohol and cocaine and pills that I am also addicted to. I know that I have been playing with fire and monday decided to quit the weed because I felt it was causing me to slip back into dangerous ground. I know that weed is a drug, I guess you could say I know it all but still relapsed. I am not sure how to come back to recovery, I am not at the rock bottom I was before and actually my life is pretty good now. I just know I have an impressionable teenage daughter 14 at home and don't want her to do drugs. any suggestions?

:67: you are in the right place. I attend 12 step meetings and they have 5 suggestions:
1. Don't drink or use
2. Go to 90 meetings in 90 days
3. Read the Big Book/NA
4. Get a sponsor
5. Pray
We are here to support and encourage you as you begin this journey. In the Big Book it says,"Rarely have we seen a person fail who has THOUROUGHLY followed our path." Tha path may not be easy but you do not have to travel it alone. Keep coming back.

Hi, all,

I'm Kate in Texas and am in Day 2 of recovery. I was sober through AA for 15 years, then felt I was "cured" and went back to drinking, just a little wine at first. As my teen-ager slipped into drug dependency, I slipped heavier into alcoholism. I drank secretly from my husband and child, though often, I'm sure, they knew. I tried quitting October 1, November 1, December 1, December 27 and January 1. The longest I've stayed sober so far is four days, but I hope I'm ready now. Glad I found this forum.

Hi!

My name is Bill, an alcoholic sober since September 24,2003.

I live in the mountains of southwestern Pennsylvania.

I am an ordained clergyman, currently serving as a full-time hospice chaplain, who learned the true meaning of the spiritual life once alcohol had defeated me five plus years ago.

Decided to check this site out, and am happy I found it.

I am an alcoholic, familiar with AA principles, but in the past I've never truly applied them in a methodically planned approach, i.e., Big Book, phone calls, daily meetings, etc......I AM AN ALCOHOLIC, MY LIFE HAS BECOME UNMANAGEABLE and I am asking God for help. I am also asking AA members for their support.

Thanks, Presson

Hi All~

New here but not to online recovery. Recovering meth addict, I have over three years, but still struggle with my eating disorder stuff.
Been having a rough go of it lately, and been feeling really judged lately so I thought I would find a new place to talk so I can feel like I can be me without worrying.

As much as things have been going on, I am extremely at Peace and it feels good.

Anyway that is it.
