One Week After Meetings
I do not know what has happened to change your self-esteem
I just keep hoping I'll wake up and this will be a dream
All the tears, the lies and the many sleepless nights
The booze, the binges and the never ending fights
I've been told I should just stop & learn to walk away
But I'm a codependent and that's probably how I'll stay
It's hard to sit back and watch your life spin out of my control
But being a passive bystander has never been my role
I hope one day to break this cycle that I continue on
Stop controlling others is what I'm told in Al-Anon
The road will not be easy, nor the path straight & true
But I'm doing this for me, so work your program for you.
