I WILL GLORY IN THE CROSS Wednesday - November 28, 2007

“For it is we who are the circumcision, we who worship by the Spirit of God, who glory in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh” – Philippians 3:3

In 1978, Dottie Rambo and her musical ensemble were in Holland giving a concert. The Christian singer was greeted by her host who said that even though she was going to sing in a church, they could not sing about the cross of Christ. Her host explained that in Holland, the cross was considered too gory.
Dottie looked at the young man, realizing he was young enough to be her son. She then answered: “Son, if you won’t tell them you told us this, then we will pretend we don’t know it. Because we will be singing about the cross and about the blood of Christ.”
Dottie and her ensemble sang “He Looked Beyond My Fault” and “Saw My Need.” The cross was preached through their singing and the audience responded turning their hearts to the Lord.
That night, back at her hotel room, Dottie thanked the Lord that she was able to proclaim His Cross in their songs. While giving thanks, Dottie recalled the words from Galatians 6:14 “May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.” She mediated on those words and the Lord gave her the song “I Will Glory in the Cross.” She quickly wrote them down on a notepad before falling asleep. The song not only became a favorite of Dottie’s but also congregations worldwide.
There is no better praise than glory in the Cross of Jesus Christ, who conquered sin and death and redeemed us. Today in prayer, glory in the victory of Jesus at the Cross at Calvary.

“I will glory in the cross, in the cross,
Lest His suffering all be in vain;
I will weep no more for the cross that He bore,
But I will glory in the cross.” – Dottie Rambo

God’s Word: “May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.” – Galatians 6:14

I WILL GLORY IN THE CROSS
Words and Music by Dottie Rambo
Verse 1:
I boast not of works nor tell of good deeds
For naught have I done to merit His grace
All glory and praise will rest upon Him
So willing to die in my place
Chorus:
I will glory in the cross, in the cross
Lest his suffering all be in vain
I will weep no more for the cross that He bore
But I will glory in the cross
Verse 2:
My trophies and my crowns, my robes stained with sin
That was all that I had to lay at His feet
He knew I was unworthy to eat from His table of life
Until His love made provision for me
Chorus:
I will glory in the cross, in the cross
Lest his suffering all be in vain
I will weep no more for the cross that He bore
But I will glory in the cross

Tag:
