Whatever you do, begin with God. --Matthew Henry
Fear not tomorrow, for God is already there. --Author Unknown
If what ever is in 1st place in your life is not God, then it is in the wrong place.
A classic prayer: Lord, what wilt thou have me do?
A life bathed in prayer is the best antidote for worry.
It doesn't matter where we fit in society's hierarchy, it is the humble heart that opens the door to God's forgiveness.
As we pray to God, He shifts our focus from ourselves to Him.
Because Christ lives in us, our anxiety can give way to peace.

STEALING YOUR JOY
Have you ever noticed that some folks seem to have a problem with others being happy? Recently I was in a situation that caused me to give some thought to this problem, because it is a problem. "Joy stealers" are all around us, so how do we deal with the problem or defend against them?
I hope you are aware of the scriptures that encourage us to "rejoice" and that God intends for our "Joy to be full". Yet, far too often when we are rejoicing, someone comes along and tries to steal our joy away from us.
A week ago I was standing, talking with several people. One of them, a lady was proudly showing us a ring her husband had bought her for her birthday. She said with a smile that she had mentioned that she like it and he had slipped back and purchased it for her to surprise her. It was an unusual ring in its design, but that was one of the things that made it special, besides the love that accompanied it.
One of the other ladies in the group responded, "I'm sorry, but that is the ugliest ring I have ever seen, you wouldn't catch me dead in a ring that ugly". The first lady said nothing, but the twinkle was gone from her eyes. She confided in me later, "Maybe I should just put it away or have it turned into something else." On subsequent encounters I've noticed she hasn't been wearing the ring. With a few words, that woman stole her joy and I don't believe that she was "sorry" at all.
Joy comes to us in many different forms and various ways. A young mother who finds joy in her children, confided that her mother asked her not to bring her children with her to visit any more as she couldn't deal with it when the baby cried. She stole her joy. A friend confided that her husband had no use for religion and did everything he could to try to discourage her from going to worship with her church family. He is trying to steal her joy. It might be some art form, collecting, family, God or any number of things that bring you joy, but chances are good that someone along your life journey will try to discourage you and steal your joy.
What do we do when someone tries to steal our joy? How do we deal with that attack on the happiness that God intended for us to experience? First realize that although joy is sometimes found in or increased by having involvement in others, joy must ultimately be founded in the realization that you are God's child. Second, realize that everything else in your life adds to that joy, but nothing and no one can take away from that joy unless you allow it.
Yes, I realize that things can't give lasting joy; it is love that gives lasting joy. A ring can be a symbol of that love, just as are our children, appreciating an art form, collecting things that are precious to us, being involved with family and of course being involved daily with our God. But hang on to your joy! Six times we are told in the New Testament that God wants our "joy to be full". Of course most of our joy is based upon our relationship with God, but don't let anyone steal your joy of that, or added blessings!
Perhaps at times you have been a "joy stealer" yourself. You may not have meant to be, but that negative comments or thought pops out of your mouth. Let me encourage you to hold on to you joy and as Paul wrote in Romans 12:15a, "When others are happy, be happy with them," (NLT) or "Rejoice with them that do rejoice," (KJV).
May Our God bless you with joy now and through eternity! --Russ Lawson

"Having It All"
There is a popular internet joke that gets sent to me from time to time that goes something like this:
A secretary, a paralegal, and a partner in a big law firm are walking to lunch together when they find an antique oil lamp.
They rub it and a genie comes out in a puff of smoke. The genie says, "I usually only grant three wishes, so I'll give each of you just one."
"Me first!" says the secretary. "I want to be in the Bahamas, driving a speedboat, without a care in the world."
Poof! She's gone!
"Me next!" says the paralegal. "I want to be in Hawaii, relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, and endless supply of pina coladas, and the love of my life."
Poof! He's gone!
"You're next," the genie says to the partner.
The partner says, "I want those two back in the office right after lunch."
We've been told for ages that we can "have it all." But there's too much to do, not enough time ~ and no magic lamp to do it for us. And we wouldn't even want it all if we didn't think it would make us happy.
However, those in the know say there's an easier path to a happy life. These three simple thoughts are cited as the keys to happiness:
1) Fret not . . . He loves you (John 13:1).
2) Faint not . . . He holds you (Psalm 139:10).
3) Fear not . . . He keeps you (Psalm 121:5).
It is possible to have it all . . . by making God your "all."
May you always be assured that if God waits longer than you wish,
it is only to make the blessing all the more precious. --Jimmy's Safe Harbor

Chosen by God!, by Paul Faulkner
Some things just kind of stick in your mind, like when a little boy said, "I've learned that it makes me sad when I'm the last one chosen for the team." Ouch! That hurts to hear, doesn't it! Has anything like that ever happened to you?
I don't remember being picked last, but I remember lots of times when I thought I was going to be. It felt like I was being kicked in the stomach. The last one chosen -- it feels like such a public disgrace. It hurts even to talk about it. Nearly all of us know this feeling at some stage of our life -- relationships, job hirings, friendships, or games.
I'm still the one he chooses every time!
What I love about Jesus is that it doesn't matter if I'm poor or not smart or clumsy or perceived as ugly. It doesn't matter to him if I'm rich or poor, short or tall, fat or skinny, bald or with lots of hair.No matter what my outside circumstances, I'm still the one he chooses every time!
Jesus told his followers, "You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit -- fruit that will last!" (John 15:16 TNIV). The apostle Paul said it this way," Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience" (Colossians 3:12).
Chosen by God. What good news! Now pass it on to someone else who needs to experience it!

THE RIGHT COMPANY!
And being let go, they went to their own companions. - Acts 4:23
Sometimes doing the will of God can make you popular, other times it can get you into trouble; especially with those who like 'keeping things the way they are.' In Acts, Chapter 3, Peter and John were used by God to bring healing to a man who'd been unable to walk since birth. Then we read, "He went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising
God" (Acts 3:8 NIV). That day 5000 people were won to Christ, and the religious authorities were in an uproar. They threatened the disciples, ordering them not to mention the name of Jesus in their preaching. So the disciples held a prayer meeting saying, "Grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your Word" (Acts 4:29).
Now pay special attention to verse 23, "And being let go, they went to their own companions." Where did they go? Back to those who were "filled with the Holy Ghost" (See Acts 4:31); to those who were "of one heart and one soul" (See Acts 4:32); to those who were so committed to reaching the world for Christ that they sold all they had and invested it into God's work (See Acts 4:32). That's the kind of company you need to be in! The Psalmist wrote: "God sets the lonely in families" (Ps 68:6 NIV).
Do you have a Spiritual family? Who do you go to for strength? It's been said that your company determines your conduct, your conduct determines your character, and your character determines your destiny. So ask God to lead you into 'the right company.' When you find them you'll wonder how you ever made it without them. --The Word for Today

In the Meantime
"I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and He heard me out of His holy hill." -Psalm 3:4
When we pray to our heavenly Father and make humble requests of Him, we wait with hope and patience for His answers to our pleas. But in the meantime, it can seem like a mean time, waiting for those answers.
At times, it may feel like the LORD is not answering us, and we may even question whether He is listening or not. But the psalmist above declares that when he cried to the LORD, from His holy hill, the LORD did hear. The Bible also says: "BLESSED is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in His law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper." -Psalm 1:1-3
While we wait on God, in the meantime, we must delight ourselves in and meditate upon the Word of God day and night, and keep the commandments of our God. We must not do as the ungodly, sinners, or scornful do, nor follow their counsel. As godly men and women, we must do that which is good and cleave to it at all times, and whatsoever we do shall prosper. If we comply with these instructions, we will bring forth fruit.
The LORD does hear and answer our prayers. We know that all things work together for good to them that love God, and are the called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).
Father, As we wait on You for answers to our prayers, may our delight continually be in Your Word. May we continue to meditate upon Your Word day and night, and do that which is good. For I pray in Jesus' name. Amen. --Week In The Word

A Christmas Version of 1 Corinthians 13
As you prepare your heart and home for Christmas this year, consider the following words of wisdom and have Christ be the center and essence of your celebration.
If I decorate my house perfectly with plaid bows, strands of twinkling lights and shiny balls, but do not show love to my family, I'm just another decorator.
If I slave away in the kitchen, baking dozens of Christmas cookies, preparing gourmet meals and arranging a beautifully adorned table at mealtime, but do not share the true meaning of Christmas, I'm just another cook.
If I work at the soup kitchen, carol in the nursing home and give all that I have to charity, but do not demonstrate kindness to strangers, it profits me nothing.
If I trim the spruce with shimmering angels and snowflakes, attend a myriad of holiday parties and sing in the choir but do not focus on Christ, I have missed the point.
Love stops the cooking to hug the child. Love sets aside the decorating to kiss the husband. Love is kind, though harried and tired.
Love doesn't envy another's home that has coordinated Christmas china and table linens. Love doesn't yell at the kids to get out of the way, but is thankful they are there to be in the way.
Love doesn't give only to those who are able to give in return but rejoices in giving to those who can't. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. Love never fails.
Video games will break, pearl necklaces will be lost, golf clubs will rust, but giving the gift of love will endure. --Author Unknown
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13

Small Straws In A Soft Wind by Marsha Burns
You need a reminder that I am bringing you to a higher level of order, divine order. And, this will involve some changes on your part that might even seem to be extreme transformation as you move to this new phase of your life. Do not lament the things that must be left behind, but rather rejoice that I will show you precisely what must be cast away and what can be kept and what needs to be gathered. Hold the things of the world loosely. Do not pin your hopes on that which has no eternal value, says the Lord.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to gain, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to throw away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
As I was worshipping the Lord I felt a warm wind blow across my face and body. I asked God what this meant, and He said: This is My breath. I am breathing new life into you that will bring a greater measure of My Holy Spirit. You will see an acceleration of the moving of the Spirit and an elevation of your gifting and service, for I am indeed bringing you to higher ground spiritually. And, from this new level of anointing, this vantage point, you will have greater revelation that will enable you to carry out My purposes with greater effectiveness, says the Lord.
John 20:22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit."
Beloved, I am brooding over you like a hen broods over her eggs in expectation of her chicks hatching. You are going to come forth in newness of life as you emerge from past restraints and things that have confined and limited your spiritual growth and development. The hidden life of your spirit will break forth as the dawn and manifest in ways you never thought possible. Await with glorious expectation this incredible, supernatural transformation, says the Spirit of the Lord.
Isaiah 58:8 Then your light shall break forth like the morning, your healing shall spring forth speedily, and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard.
You are on a fast learning curve. What would have taken you weeks or months to learn will now only take days or minutes. I will impart to you the understanding you need by showing you the essence of the subject. Do not depend on man's teaching, but ask Me for true wisdom, and I will show you the ultimate nature of the thing you seek to know rather than elements of its existence. Trust Me to open your eyes wide with cognizant awareness such as you have not experienced until now, says the Lord.
1 John 2:27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.
You have been in a whirlwind of activity, and changes are occurring all around you and in you. Take time today to reflect on what I have done in the past weeks, says the Lord, and rejoice. And, look at the place where you are now standing, for you have indeed ascended to a new plateau. The surroundings are as yet somewhat unfamiliar, but you will find that it is a broad place that gives you plenty of room to explore and grow. Don't forget that I am always with you to direct this exploration. Refuse to yield to anxiety or the temptation to go back to what you just left.
John 6:66-69 From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more. Then Jesus said to the twelve, "Do you also want to go away?" But Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

When I Linger in His Presence
Sometimes when shadows linger
And darkness veils the night,
When pain obscures my vision
And things aren't going right.
When the world around me crumbles
And a friend cannot be found,
When tomorrow holds no promise
And life has got me down.
When I am at my lowest
And I can bear no more,
I cry to God in anguish
He greets me at the door.
He gently whispers to me
My soul has found release,
My troubles start to perish
My worries seem to cease.
The hardships I have known
Seem to vanish with the wind,
When I seek His loving Spirit
And I humbly ask Him in.
All the turmoil that surrounds me
Seems to fade like shifting sand,
When I linger in His presence
And He gently takes my hand.

Not Yet
Sometimes I ask the question,
"My Lord, is this Your will?"
It's then I hear You answer me,
"My Precious child . . . be still."
Sometimes I feel frustrated,
'Cause I think I know what's best.
It's then I hear You say to me,
"My busy child . . . just rest."
Sometimes I feel so lonely
And I think I'd like a mate.
Your still small voice gets oh, so clear
And says, "My child . . . please wait."
"I know the plans I have for you,
The wondrous things you'll see;
If you can just be patient, child,
And put your trust in Me.
I've plans to draw you closer.
I've plans to help you grow.
There's much I do you cannot see
And much you do not know.
But know this, child . . . I love you!
You are precious unto Me.
Before I formed you in the womb,
I planned your destiny.
I've something very special
I hope for you to learn.
The gifts I wish to give to you
Are gifts you cannot earn.
They come without a price tag,
But not without a cost;
At Calvary, I gave My Son,
So you would not be lost.
Rest child, and do not weary
Of doing what is good.
I promise I'll come back for you
Just like I said I would.
Your name is written on My palm,
I never could forget;
Therefore, do not be discouraged when
My answer is . . . "Not Yet"

JESUS PASSED YOUR WAY
I've watched you grow as you've come to know
A hardened heart that's been chipped apart...
by the softness of His love.
Though the path's been long, He's kept you ever strong...
In words I believe to be true,
This is how much God loves you:
You're the brightest twinkle in the eye of a star struck sky,
A rose among the thorns on a sunlit morn...
As seen by His loving eyes.
The softness of your face reveals the pain He has erased.
A faith that's growing bolder as His hand rests on your shoulder...
So great is His love for you.
It was not chance that you've received His gift of extravagance.
He's cleansed you of all sin to spend your life with Him. For, in one
loving stroke, He gave you back your soul...
And He made it white as snow.
Aren't you glad Jesus passed your way?

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. Ephesians 6:10-11
Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, 20always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:19-20
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. Psalm 46:1-3
Forgiveness for the Sinner
5If anyone has caused grief, he has not so much grieved me as he has grieved all of you, to some extent—not to put it too severely. 6The punishment inflicted on him by the majority is sufficient for him. 7Now instead, you ought to forgive and comfort him, so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. 8I urge you, therefore, to reaffirm your love for him. 9The reason I wrote you was to see if you would stand the test and be obedient in everything. 10If you forgive anyone, I also forgive him. And what I have forgiven—if there was anything to forgive—I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake, 11in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes. 2 Corinthians 2:5-11
29Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:29-32
Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD. Psalm 27:14
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14
I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand upon the earth. Job 19:25

You Can Start Again!
With You there is forgiveness.
Psalm 130:4 NIV
Some people grow through failure; others never recover from it. They speak only of the past because they can't get beyond it. What's the answer? See your mistakes as stepping-stones rather than stumbling-blocks! "How do I do that?" you ask. By doing the following three things:
(1) You must process! You've got to process emotions like regret: "If only I hadn't failed." Frustration: "I thought my idea was great, why didn't they?" Self-pity: "They hurt me so I'll just sit here and lick my wounds." Paralysis: "I'll never get beyond this." When it comes to emotions, the only way out - is through!
(2) You must decide! Solomon says, "Though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again" (Proverbs 24:16 NIV). You must be like the lady who said, "I'm never down, I'm either up or I'm getting up!" So, are you going to get up and try again?
(3) You must remember! You're not the first one to blow it. Samson did by getting too close to the wrong woman (See Judges 16). Jonah did by trying to run from God's call (See Jonah 1:3). Peter did by denying his Lord (See Matthew 26:74). Yet God used all of them. And He'll use you too if you give Him a chance! The Psalmist writes: "with You there is forgiveness." But God's forgiveness is worthless unless you receive it by faith - then forgive yourself!
"But what about my past?" you say.
The moment you accept God's forgiveness you don't have a past, you only have a future. You're free to get on with your life! --Jimmy's Safe Harbor

Read Through The Bible
Exodus 9
The Plague on Livestock
1 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go to Pharaoh and say to him, 'This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: "Let my people go, so that they may worship me." 2 If you refuse to let them go and continue to hold them back, 3 the hand of the LORD will bring a terrible plague on your livestock in the field—on your horses and donkeys and camels and on your cattle and sheep and goats. 4 But the LORD will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and that of Egypt, so that no animal belonging to the Israelites will die.' " 5 The LORD set a time and said, "Tomorrow the LORD will do this in the land." 6 And the next day the LORD did it: All the livestock of the Egyptians died, but not one animal belonging to the Israelites died. 7 Pharaoh sent men to investigate and found that not even one of the animals of the Israelites had died. Yet his heart was unyielding and he would not let the people go.
The Plague of Boils
8 Then the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "Take handfuls of soot from a furnace and have Moses toss it into the air in the presence of Pharaoh. 9 It will become fine dust over the whole land of Egypt, and festering boils will break out on men and animals throughout the land." 10 So they took soot from a furnace and stood before Pharaoh. Moses tossed it into the air, and festering boils broke out on men and animals. 11 The magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils that were on them and on all the Egyptians. 12 But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart and he would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the LORD had said to Moses.
The Plague of Hail
13 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Get up early in the morning, confront Pharaoh and say to him, 'This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me, 14 or this time I will send the full force of my plagues against you and against your officials and your people, so you may know that there is no one like me in all the earth. 15 For by now I could have stretched out my hand and struck you and your people with a plague that would have wiped you off the earth. 16 But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth. 17 You still set yourself against my people and will not let them go. 18 Therefore, at this time tomorrow I will send the worst hailstorm that has ever fallen on Egypt, from the day it was founded till now. 19 Give an order now to bring your livestock and everything you have in the field to a place of shelter, because the hail will fall on every man and animal that has not been brought in and is still out in the field, and they will die.' " 20 Those officials of Pharaoh who feared the word of the LORD hurried to bring their slaves and their livestock inside. 21 But those who ignored the word of the LORD left their slaves and livestock in the field. 22 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand toward the sky so that hail will fall all over Egypt—on men and animals and on everything growing in the fields of Egypt." 23 When Moses stretched out his staff toward the sky, the LORD sent thunder and hail, and lightning flashed down to the ground. So the LORD rained hail on the land of Egypt; 24 hail fell and lightning flashed back and forth. It was the worst storm in all the land of Egypt since it had become a nation. 25 Throughout Egypt hail struck everything in the fields—both men and animals; it beat down everything growing in the fields and stripped every tree. 26 The only place it did not hail was the land of Goshen, where the Israelites were. 27 Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron. "This time I have sinned," he said to them. "The LORD is in the right, and I and my people are in the wrong. 28 Pray to the LORD, for we have had enough thunder and hail. I will let you go; you don't have to stay any longer." 29 Moses replied, "When I have gone out of the city, I will spread out my hands in prayer to the LORD. The thunder will stop and there will be no more hail, so you may know that the earth is the LORD's. 30 But I know that you and your officials still do not fear the LORD God." 31 (The flax and barley were destroyed, since the barley had headed and the flax was in bloom. 32 The wheat and spelt, however, were not destroyed, because they ripen later.) 33 Then Moses left Pharaoh and went out of the city. He spread out his hands toward the LORD; the thunder and hail stopped, and the rain no longer poured down on the land. 34 When Pharaoh saw that the rain and hail and thunder had stopped, he sinned again: He and his officials hardened their hearts. 35 So Pharaoh's heart was hard and he would not let the Israelites go, just as the LORD had said through Moses.

"I know the plans I have for you,
The wondrous things you'll see;
If you can just be patient, child,
And put your trust in Me.
I've plans to draw you closer.
I've plans to help you grow.
There's much I do you cannot see
And much you do not know.
But know this, child . . . I love you!
You are precious unto Me.
Before I formed you in the womb,
I planned your destiny.
I've something very special
I hope for you to learn.
The gifts I wish to give to you
Are gifts you cannot earn.
They come without a price tag,
But not without a cost;
At Calvary, I gave My Son,
So you would not be lost.
Rest child, and do not weary
Of doing what is good.
I promise I'll come back for you
Just like I said I would.
Your name is written on My palm,
I never could forget;
