Addiction and recovery can be a scary thing, especially if you're watching your loved ones struggle and you don't know how to help them.

That's why the show Intervention on A&E has inspired me so much. It covers everything from addiction to alcohol abuse to depression to eating disorders, just to cover a few. The show uses a highly qualified team of specialists to help people get on the road to recovery. What I also like about it is that it shows addiction from not only the addict's side, but the family's reactions as well. I work with A&E and I think this show is really important, not to mention extremely inspirational.

I have seen it many time while using and many while sober. It is really powerful. I cry every time I watch it. When I told my friends I quit drinking (after I got out of detox) they said they were getting ready to do an intervention on me. I am so very glad I had the courage to reach out for help before they had to do that. I wish the show would do a whole episode on some of the people. I always wonder about some of them.
