I wanted to share with everyone that this is my first sober holidayseason. I Feel like a tourist in a foreign land. Yet I must admit it feels good to be able to think and respond clearly without the use of drugs/alcohol. I am detrmined to see the holidays through sober. I am making meetings and talking a lot about what I think are my feelings. That part is weird considering I have been numb for a long time. I find myself crying/laughing etc. for no reason. What the hell is happening to me? Anyway, In light of the Holiday Season I just want to wish each and everyone a Safe, Sober, and Spirit filled Happy Holiday to all.

For those of you who pray, remember me. BE BLESSED.

Hey cryingout, I have heard said in recovery - "The good news is you get your emotions back. The bad news is you get your emotions back." I find myself doing something similar as you but I write mine off as going through menopause - mood swings. I'll give you some more good news - this too shall pass and you are not alone. Keep coming and sharing with us. We are here for you and understand and support you. :42:

Congratulations Cryingout!!!! The thing I enjoyed the most about my first sober holiday season was not wondering what I had done the night before. Please know that I am praying for you.
Blessings,

Once you're on the other side of this holiday season and still sober, you will know that you can now get through many events without picking up. Having sober references in the bank are helpful reminders that we can do this, one day at a time.

Something that helped me in the early years was to remember that any holiday is just another 24 hours.
