Assurance
Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him (Col 2:6)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A young man was spouting off facts about the great depression. An older woman corrected him on some of his information, but he argued, "I read it in a book." "Young man", she replied, "I was there."
Reading a map, or even sitting in the airport of a country, is not the same as living in that country. Our security is much more than good doctrine or else our assurance is book knowledge. Good doctrine directs us to find our assurance in Christ.
Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him (Col 2:6)
Jesus warned the religious, "You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about Me" (John 5:39) Let's pray.
Lord Jesus, thank You for the assurance of Scripture that points to You. Open my heart to find You more and more in the written Word. But most of all, grant that I would listen and follow You, growing in the blessed assurance of life in You. Amen
Today's very great and precious promise
Now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not shrink away from Him in shame at His coming. (1John 2:28)
We have God's Word on it.
Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him (Col 2:6)
