Hello and Happy New Year....my name is April and my AA birthday is November 27, 2006.

I am a new to Cyber Recovery and decided to join because I live in a very remote area and don't have a chance to discuss recovery as much as I would like. I left a rehab center I year ago Dec. 27th and am happy to say that after 35 years of addiction to alcohol and medications, but mostly alcohol, I'm doing ok. I am one of those that had a "happening" one night sitting in my chair - drunk. It was like a part of me (my spirit and soul) that I had shut off 35 years earlier slipped through and in just a few seconds of clarity I realized that I didn't want to be sick anymore. We all have our own bottom and I had reached mine and put myself into rehab 2 months later.

I do attend an AA meeting at least once a week. I also start each day at this site http://www.ipass.net/a1idpirat/readings.html and spend the time necessary to read and remember why I'm where I am now and why I cannot drink the rest of my life.

I live is a very rural area and found a sponsor online from a Yahoo group so am currently on step 4. I know that you can live in a much larger area and not find a sponsor that works -but I always remember that I have to do whatever it takes to stay sober so online is just fine.

I wish all of you the peace and serenty we all seek as a new year starts and those of us that deal with addiction walk thru each day with the support of others and a higher power that leads us. April

Hi April ((HUGS)) welcome! I work mostly online as well, so I know what you mean. Fortunately there are many wonderful resources out there for us!

Thank you. I have been looking at this site for months and am ready to participate - I have some self-confidence issues when it comes to posting etc. but really need to connect to more people in recovery that work the program everyday. Here' to a great year!!!!
