Four more days and we will step into a new year.
I was asked recently if I was going to make any resolutions.
I said no I always end up breaking them.
Making a certain resolution because it's something I know I need to do is not sufficient.
Sure - I take a look at myself and I know I need to loose some more weight, I need to be more efficent in taking care of my finances, my duties in my home, making better use of my time.
I could make a great list and be very sincere in my intentions to do everything on the list, but soon I would be overwhelmed and - well, there goes another list of resolutions.

What's the solution? I asked myself.

Well, of course I knew the answer to that; another question.

Lord, what do YOU have for me in 2008?

Please give me a vision of Your plan for my life.
You know me better than I know myself. I would most
likely start working at solutions in my own strength and therefore experience a burn out before anything was accomplished.

As I prayed that prayer I believe God gave me the following hymn as my answer.
So --
Here is my resolution for 2008.
If it witnesses with you, sing along

Be Thou My Vision
Traditional Irish Hymn

Be Thou my vision, O lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my True word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my Great Father, I Thy true son;
thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my Battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul's shelter, Thou my high Tower;
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man's empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of heaven, my victory won,
May I reach heaven's joys, o bright heaven's sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.
