hi i'm vanessa and i am a greatful and blessed recovering alcoholic always in need of recovery,it is because of God's grace and mercy family and friends and this fellowship that i'm clean and sober today and for that i will always be grateful...today i can say that i can trully find peace in knowing that if i am willing to follow some simple guidelines set up for not only a way to stay clean and sober but it also offers a way for me to live my life in every aspect...step 1 tells me that i am not only powerless over alcohol but also people, place ,things circumstances and most importantly the actions of other people..this program even at my age teaches me that i have to embrace those who reach out to me and when i do make sure it is from the heart, today examining my motives are very important....i try my best on a daily basis to not react without thought of the outcome and in all that i do i ask God for knowledge wisdom and understanding..upon awakening every morning i first thank him for waking me up in the right frame of mind and give thanks for another day clean and sober :smile:i then ask him to guide me in all that i say and do and help me be compassionate to anyone i encounter and to be of maximin assisstance to anyone who asks for my help..i then ask for his will to be done in my life and not mine and then i pray for the still suffering alcoholics that they too will find him and my day begins....that's what has worked for me for over 4 yrs ....that's how i get started.....the rest is what God has in store me .....one day at a time

hi glad to see that you keep coming back....we are are complicated set of people ....the one thing that we have to remember that this a simple program and we complicate it ourselves by not taking some simple suggestions...what i do on a daily basis is try not to complicate anything that goes on in my life ...i try to take the negative and turn it into something positive....my sponser tells me all the time that i am exactly where God wants me to be and that everything has a reason and a season and that God's grace will not take me anywhere he can't protect me...so all my fears are turned into faith in a power greater than myself..and if i can't deceide what the next right thing to do...that i should just stand still and pray and wait for an answer...i seems to work out all by itself...one thing that i always do is when ifind myself on that pity-pot...i reach out and help someone else in recovery and i soon get a fulfillment and a feeling of gratification that is unexplainable...
