One of my Christmas presents was a cat figurine with the word patience written on it. When I received the gift I thought to myself, "Ok God, what are you trying to tell me here?" Since Christmas it seems that word has been coming up alot. I remember in early sobriety praying for patience. It seems like after I did that everything that could happen to try my patience - did. I also heard in a meeting after that, that you shouldn't pray for patience because then everything that can happen to try your patience - will. Ha! I had already done that and had that happen. One area I had to work on was when I was driving. While sitting at a stop light waiting to go or when someone was going slow or would cut you off. Road Rage is related to patience. What I did was to bring along some Joyce Meyer tapes. I would listen to those and they would help. Also if someone was going too slow or cut me off - made me angry for whatever reason, I, instead of yelling, began to say a prayer for them and for myself. These were a couple of things I did. I have had other areas of my life where I have had to work on my patience.

What is your experience with patience and what have you done to help yourself in that area of your life?

tend to be impatient with me and my own recovery process. I am learning to see my recovery seems to be slow and steady. I remember wanting to recieve the promises in the Big Book right when i got sober and clean initially, was impatient that i wasnt getting them fast enough for me. It comes with time and working the steps.

I am a very impatient person and i am having to keep remembering the "easy does it" and "one day at a time". I am same as janbear, I was expecting quick results to this program but I am slowly starting to realise that it is going to be like that.
