Jesus gets into a boat with His disciples. A gale force wind comes up and makes waves so huge that the boat is filling up with water. And Jesus the Prince of peace is asleep on a cushion. The disciples cry out, "Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?" (Mar 4:38)
We say, "Jesus is in the boat with me, and though at times it seems like He's not doing anything, I can trust my life to His care or cry out to Him." But what of our friends? Our family? Our children?
Nothing in Scripture is by accident. God intended this little note: And there were also with Him other little ships. (Mar 4:36b) God meant for us to know that they were with Him too.
When things get stormy we don't have to jump ship. He is also with our friends and family. We can rest in the Lord's leading and His care for them. Let's pray.
Lord Jesus, thank You for caring for us all. Please forgive me for being anxious. Help me trust You, to rest in You, and follow You. Thank You for the peace that only You can give. Amen.
Today's very great and precious promise
"All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out." (Joh 6:37)
We have God's Word on it.
