I'm coming back in (again) after over a year of more research.
This will be the third time since my 3 years of total sobriety 2000-2003.
I did the steps 'right' in 2000, and twice before with a less-than-complete 5the step.
So, did you 'come back in' or re-do the steps?

I had to look at it as a construction job.
If I had done the steps right, then I wouldnt have had to get a white key tag.
I realy had to see where the screwups were in my foundation.
Dont sweat the problem, but do get thourow in your recovery.
Check out the recovery and relapse worksheet on this sight.
Keep coming!
I need you in my recovery!!!!

I got this friend in recovery who has gone out a few times and me and her are pretty close she had a year and then went out over the relationship thing you know how it goes well any way. I only had to pick up one white key tag and I have done the steps a few times and now after a bad brake up with a dude I started the steps over. Well she got out of Jail around the same time she is doing the steps again too. Kind of like this Life = change, Change = new application. So if I have had this new changing life event maybe I need some Spiritual application I don't know how to do that with out using the Steps. So she dose get hung up on this thing where she knows more than most new comers and she is right, but the had to be something wrong if you relapsed, just like there has to be something wrong if I am flipping out over a bad relationship! If I have been seeking something out side of my inner self and my higher power. to make me feel better then there is something wrong do I know what it is not, but the only way I know how to find it is in the steps. I call it grabbing something out side of me to make me feel better on the inside, when I do that I am in my disease. When I working on my step work I am in the solution.

I guess that I needed to stop worrying about what I should or should not be doing regarding getting and staying clean. I just needed to do whatever I was on the fence about, but it took what it took. Getting a sponsor and starting from square one, regardless of what I already knew about the steps was me really starting to surrender and invest the needed effort in my recovery....

A good 4th and 5th step is what had me understanding the root of me. It let me see that I was not alone. I have a good sponcer in both programs. Its not what happened to me it was how I delt with the feelings. And the steps should be a way of life. There are 12 months a year and there are 12 steps.

on my 4th step again on my defects, me and my sponsee was talking about telling the hole story yesterday she got like 50 days after a relapse a lot of legal issues for her now. I was telling her that she can't be hurt by telling the truth, when we hide the truth and it comes out any way is when it hurts us, but if we tell the hole story not leaving any out it looses power over us funny how that works. Lies grow in the dark, and die in the light. :D
