My sobriety date is July 21, 2007. That morning, having blacked out the night before, I woke up on the floor next to the entertainment center with a gash on my forehead. The lower door to the entertainment center was broken. I had had an argument the previous night with my daughter over the language I was using in front of her two children. Then I drank shots of whiskey until I passed out. It was the next morning that I decided that I couldn't control my drinking, I couldn't stop drinking, so I had to get to AA. I have been contentedly sober since then and life has improved greatly for me, especially on the spiritual side and on relations with my family. I am now working on step 8, making amends. AA is definitely a miracle. I don't know how it works, I just know it works!
PS My clean birthday is the same as my sobriety birthday.
PPS What is a "belly button birthday?"
