Whatever You Do

Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. (Col 3:23-24)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is easy to feel discouraged when others don't appreciate the effort you put into a job. And some employers are a pain, critical and rarely supportive. The good news is that we can change employers.

If you want to and you are free to change your job or where you work- more power to you. But not only can we remain where we are and change employers, we should.

Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. (Col 3:23-24)

I don't mean that we should go around spouting off with arrogance that we serve the Lord (That probably wouldn't be serving Him). But as a humble matter of our heart when we serve the Lord rather than men, we are certain of His appreciation, support, and presence.

The irony about all this is that when we serve the Lord, enjoying our place of employment in His heart... well, we find ourselves serving others in His love. (Even the bossy types who are in obvious need.) Jesus said, "The greatest among you shall be your servant." Let's pray.

Lord Jesus, thank You for giving us work to do with You. Thank you that You provide everything we need for life and godliness. Help us to do whatever we do for You and through You. Let me work for You today. Amen.

Today's very great and precious promise

It is the Lord Christ whom you serve. (see Col 3:24)

We have God's Word on it.
