Lay My Head To Rest

God now I lay my head to rest
I am confident I've done my best
By your grace I live in today
Grateful and blessed
I walk this 12 step way
I was once a drunk
Whom did not give a ****
I would always say
I am who I am
If you did not like me
I could care less
In my mind I was the best
By Gods grace
I live in today
I'm very grateful
That I can say
My God spared me from my hell
Of His mercy I would gladly tell
God I lay my head to rest
To show my gratitude
I've done my best
Tomorrow
I'll stick out my hand
To every new man
This is the least I can do
You know I even go a lot further
As I put my best foot forward
I trudge this happy road
To my destiny
Now I love this thing
We call recovery
I'm in the meetings
In so many rooms
The faces change but it's still
The same story
This freedom we've won
Is to Gods glory
You probably know me
As Jim or Bill
I might also be
Mary or Jill
I'm in recovery for the long haul
I've found direction
I've heard the call
I worked the 12 steps
To sanity
God I just love recovery
God now I lay my head to rest
Know in my heart
I've done my best
If you don't know me just look
Around the room at the tables
I'll be there
Drinking coffee with a big smile
AA , NA , OA or SA
Many different programs
With 12 steps out
Just give up the confusion
Just come out
I thank God for this way
Now I'm ready
To get my rest
I thank you God for being blessed
