"If I am not the problem..."

hi i am new to the board. i am an addict named todd, living in baton rouge, la. i wanted to say that i really like this saying, "if i am not the problem, there is no solution". sometimes it's hard to wrap my mind around that concept, and i wonder if there is a dual meaning. i would appreciate it if dalin and others would comment on the interpretation of its meaning.

Very nice Todd "if i am not the problem, To think that my only problem was drug use would be insane, because then just take me off of drug without the Steps and see if my life is not unnamable without using drugs So that must mean there is something inside me that is the problem my Dis Eases with life on life's terms.
there is no solution, We can only work on a problem is we stay in the solution, that means I have to work on me!:eek:

yes. good feedback. i firmly believe the drug use was merely a symptom of my disease. i believe i was a potential-addict with many of the characteristics of addiction long before i picked up. even now (or especially now) in my recovery, my disease often distorts and twists my thinking and then on top of that it hides the fact of the distortions/twists and makes me think my thinking is ok. what a mindf____ eh? this disease is a reality bender--a distorter of perception and awareness. i tend to complicate and analyze things to pieces, but it sometimes helps me to make things sink in. thank god for this program, the people in it, and the steps, or i would be toast. peace ya'll. oh yeah, dalin, we have a mutual friend...saw her at the tuesday night unity rangers meeting tonight. was wondering how that toronto na lit ended up on our tables. ;-)
