The crying room
by Elizabeth Price
A survey we were asked to distribute and analyse contained critical questions. It also gave space for a sort of ‘you tell me the problem’ area.
At the end of the day, a strange trait surfaced. A viewpoint was being expressed that was a revelation of anger and frustration nobody suspected was there.
People needed a crying room where they could tell of their pain in the context of their present experience. The analyst had to know the geographical, historical and political background to understand what they were really saying, because a stranger would have missed the point.
We all need a crying room, properly staffed, where we can tell our problems. So the Lord has prepared His own crying room for us. It is staffed by the Son of God because he is familiar with our geographical, historical and political background.
“You are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue
you know it completely, O Lord.”
Psalms 139:3, 4
It is comforting just to spend time in His presence.
