Sponsership is a two way street, it does not work one sided. I want to say that, asking a newcomer if there willing to follow direction, is like asking someone to hold there breath till they turn blue.. We did not come into this fellowship gleaning with love, and honesty and willingness, and the ability to be open minded. These character assetts we learned along the way, or we brought them back out because at some point in our growing up years we were able to do all those things before active addiction took over.

I believe that a sponser should be someone who has working knowledge of all 12 steps, and traditions. The road ahead of the new comer is a long and hard one, someone needs to help them through that phase of there recovery, just like some one helped us through. I can not get so cocky that I forget were I come from. I was not willing to follow direction, at all, ever, so coming in here you guys told me there were things I had to do, they were a must if I wanted to get and stay clean. I was stubborn and I was hard headed, and I did not follow suggestions or directions. The addicts that were there before me did not give up on me, they did tell me to go away because I was toxic to there spirit. There was a difference.

I know for me it works a bit different for every addict, the one thing we have in common is addicition and recovery. We dont need to be there friend we just have to carry the message of recovery and not the addict. If I addict is not doing the program according to how the sponser wants, then being mature with that sponsee and telling them, Look you want to live or die, do you want to use or not, its your choice do you want to get into action and change or do you like your pitifull ass caught up and miserable, because if you want joy and happiness and freeedom, not just from addiction but from many chains that hold us down, then work the steps and get better or dont, I choose to move forward, and I would like you to join me, other wise you can call me and stay in touch and talk recovery, just let me know when your ready to take the steps to some change and behavior differences, Recovery is a change in actions and behaviors, and intill them I can learn from anyone today, so I would not tell them if there not going to follow direction to go away, because that would be more than 80% of the newcomers that walk in the door.

Just my opinion above ><

Welcome to Narcotics Anonymous!First experience with Narcotics Anonymous? We hope you give yourself a break and keep coming back. Many of us walk in the doors of Narcotics Anonymous feeling broken, desperate, angry, lost, unsure, misunderstood, scared, sick, tired, and beaten. If you are feeling this way, you are not alone. Many of us have felt the exact same way. In NA meetings, recovering addicts share with us that they have found a new way to live and share with us how it's done. We work together to save our lives and we know that it actually works if we are honest, open-minded and willing to make the effort. We found we needed alot of help to learn how to get clean and to stay clean in order to recover and we found this help from other recovering addicts in Narcotics Anonymous. We don't have to do this alone and have found that the best person to help and understand an addict is another addict. It might not be easy, and we might be scared, but people want to help. We are here to help and to be helped. No one can help until we ask for help. Help is available to us all in Narcotics Anonymous. How do we learn a new way to live without drugs? We go to NA meetings, we share with each other how we stay clean and how we feel, we get sponsors, we learn how to work the 12 steps and how to apply them in all areas of our lives. We learn to be honest, open-minded and willing. We keep coming back. We stay. We do this together. You say, "What can I do to stop using dope?"Admitting we have a problem is the beginning of this process of recovery. It's a big step for many of us, but once we really see that we have a problem and become willing to do something about it, it can open the door to a whole new way to live. Contacting people in Narcotics Anonymous and reaching out for help is yet another step in the right direction. So many of us lived our lives in the isolation of addiction we might not have even realized that people want to help us nor felt there was any help for us but that's not the case. Reaching out to Narcotics Anonymous was the last hope for many of us who were desperate.People in NA know how addiction feels - We can and do understand because we have been there. We stop using drugs. We might find it hard, but we do it anyway. We just don't use for now. We find other things to do besides using. We find people in NA who tell us how they got through it. If we keep not using, we can break the habit of using. We can break the chains of addiction and we can indeed lose the desire to use drugs. We realize that it might seem impossible, but it really is true for us in Narcotics Anonymous. We can stop using, start living and even have a life worth living. We speak from our own experience. We don't have to be clean to attend NA meetings. In fact, many of us weren't clean when we first came to meetings. We don't have to wait to find help.

You say, "What can I do to stop using dope?"
Admitting we have a problem is the beginning of this process of recovery. It's a big step for many of us, but once we really see that we have a problem and become willing to do something about it, it can open the door to a whole new way to live.

Contacting people in Narcotics Anonymous and reaching out for help is yet another step in the right direction. Reaching out to Narcotics Anonymous was the last hope for many of us who were desperate. People in NA know how addiction feels - We can and do understand because we have been there.

We stop using drugs. We might find it hard, but we do it anyway. We just don't use for now. We find other things to do besides using. We find people in NA who tell us how they got through it. What is a sponsor?
A sponsor is someone who has experience in living and applying the twelve steps of Narcotics Anonymous in their lives who helps guide us through them as they are guided by their sponsors. Welcome 2 the newcomer !!!! 2 this program that promises only one thing , which is Freedom from active addiction 1 day @ a time . Newcomer it's plain and simple you're only gonna get ,what you're willing 2 put in . Now there's a number of ways that has been proven for some 2 stop the use of drugs and alcohol . But here we deal with the nature of addiction . As we carry the message of freedom and hope . This is a we program why because the ultimate weapon is another recovering addict . not only does this program help u 2 stay stopped . This program give u an introduction 2 the God of your own understanding . As the 12 STEPS are written so simply that Bozo got it . The spiritual principles that are embodied in these STEPS tells us that a honest admission, acceptance, surrender , hope . faith , willingness , courage , integrity, humility, justice , perseverance, brotherly love and service will show us how 2 be productive members of society as more is revealed a day @ a time . If u keep coming back you'll find that abstinence is not enough you'll find that u want 2 b clean from the inside out this mean then u have 2 make a beginning on the STEPS . 2 uncover and discover the causes and conditions . Address the character defects and deal with the unresolved issues . As we gain peace , and serenity while we grow Through our go Through .

But like I was told in early recovery,
Look at my message when my @$$ is on fire.Hold my feet to the fire and see how I act.
If you want what I have got, then do the things I do to get it!:85::42:
