Worry wart --
I was thinking about how people seem to read the Bible more when they get older. I guess they are cramming for their finals.
Today we are taking inventory. Get a piece of paper, and put numbers one to ten down the left side. Write down your ten biggest problems starting with the most severe. After your list is complete, go back over the list one by one and ask yourself, "Am I going to let this defeat me today"? Now pray over each one, then tear up the list. As you throw it in the waste basket, say, OK, God, it's all yours. Try it. Do you have the guts to try it.
Remember, today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday. Was it worth the worry?
Psa 37:8 says, "Cease from anger and forsake wrath. Do not fret - it only causes harm."
The entire Psalm 37 is about the same subject. Sit down and read it (I'll wait). Now, don't you feel better?
Fretting and worry can be devastating to your spirit. Look back over your life. Can you remember one single thing that fretting and worrying solved? You say, "Oh, I don't worry - I just get anxious." Is there a difference? Instead of worrying, think of something positive you can do to solve the problem about which you are worrying.
Now, if you really want something to worry about, think about this - what language did Adam and Eve speak? Take the word "worry" and drop kick it over the goal post of God's sovereignty.
