To all new friends in recovery: Hello!
Today is 21 days sober! I was held in the grips of alcohol for 20 years. Willingly and uncontrollably I blindly gave myself to serve as its slave. My mind was enamored with alcohol, my body in love. There was nothing we could not do together any time of day. And my family knew it. Facing the rest of my life as a pathetic drunk who can "never seem to get it together" was NOT the way I was going to live life. I sought help at a local pyschiatrist who prescribed Campral. I take two pills three times a day and my cravings are almost completely gone. My anxiety is non-existent. (I also take lexpro which mimics a mild weed buzz for the first 30 days you take) I have tried to quit so many times and failed miserably. 21 days is the longest single stretch of time in which I have maintained sobriety! Look it up! There is help out there to make the transition easier! I have been tested in several environments (a bar on Sat nite with live music, camping trip and pretty days int he garden). My mind is clear and hardly thinks about drinking. Even if does, it is only for a moment and a rush of satisfaction gives me more strength. Any questions? Just ask...
