Daniel 3:14-20, 24-25, 28. Glory and praise for ever!-Daniel 3:52-56. John 8:31-42.

‘Make my word your home.’

Truth can be a powerful poison, and sometimes is to be administered drop by drop. When we confront in anger, determined to tell someone what we really think of him or her, the result is often destructive. Only when we want to keep and deepen the relationship do we describe the offending behavior and its effects gently, remaining ready to hear and respond to the person’s reactions.

Put-downs are all too easy, as are judgements and criticisms of personality characteristics. Gossip and tale-bearing destroy at a distance.

Jesus, you said, ‘You will learn the truth and the truth will set you free’. Most often, the truth we hear most clearly is that which is spoken in love. When spoken by someone who knows me well, yet believes in me, that truth frees me and allows me to grow. Help me do that for others.
