The CEO
by Brandy Ferguson
As I ventured into one of my favourite retail ‘supercentres’ this morning, I realized very quickly that the atmosphere was buzzing with a certain excitement. Hardly another soul was shopping, but the place seemed to be filled with employees, all working fervently - vacuuming, dusting, making sure products lined the shelves perfectly.
As I made my way to the back of the store, I couldn't help but overhear several store leaders as they talked to their teams, making sure they knew what to do and when. It was as if a King was coming.
I had never seen the store so well organized or polished before, or so many employees working so laboriously as if in preparation for someone noble about to appear. I think that's when it occurred to me - they had some sort of inspector coming and SOON!!!
Intrigued, I continued on with my shopping with my two toddlers, and I struggled to make sure they didn't drop anything or mess up any items on the shelves as we made our way to the grocery section. And that's when I saw her - the CEO, dressed in a suit, carrying a clipboard, walking slowly as a large group followed her and showed her their various departments she would evaluate.
Amazed, I asked myself if I took such great care in making my heart a place that is that ready for her Master to come and inspect. How polished are the floors of my heart, how well-stocked are the shelves? Have I taken great caution in investing all I can into the outcome of His great and final inspection of my life?
It will be good for those servants whose Master finds them watching when He comes. It will be good for those servants whose Master finds them ready...
Luke 12: 37 -38 (NIV)
