Spirit of Love
Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the LORD of hosts. (From Zec 4:6)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you get frustrated? I do. Today I realized (finally) that it is in my wife's personality to express the possibility for improvement in (what seems to me) every circumstance. Do you ever want to say, "Why can't that person just let me be?"
Of course it couldn't be my problem, or could it? I remember now what Jesus said, "I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now." (John 16:12) Maybe I can't bear to hear the Lord's correction for me yet.
But He doesn't get frustrated at me and quit. Instead He sends His Holy Spirit to walk with us and train us- "the Spirit of truth, He will guide you into all the truth..." (from John 16:13)
God is here for us. He accepts us. He comes to live in us and lead us in love, guiding us into all the truth. (Even the stuff I'd rather not see.) By the gentle leading of our Good Shepherd, we make the good confession: "Without You, I can't do anything."
It's not defeat. It's surrender to God's love. Who knows how much is my wife's problem and how much of it is mine? Who cares?!! We know what matters is our faith in the Lord expressed in love. Now that's a place where I need to to improve. Let's pray.
Lord, You are the way. Please forgive me for blaming my frustration on others. Help me to surrender my turmoil to You, and to find my rest in You.
Help me to learn from You because You are gentle and meek and I will find rest for my soul. Only You can accomplish this work in me. I don't know how, but You are the way. Thank You for working in me. Amen
Today's very great and precious promise
For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. (Phi 1:6)
We have God's Word on it.
