Ticked Off
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. (see Col. 3:15)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I know someone who can argue their brain into a frenzy, and then go to sleep. Not me. Do thoughts keep you awake? Maybe they should.
God's Word says, 'Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.' (Eph 4:26-27) We need (I need) God's help to let go of anger before I rest up for the next day- tomorrow has enough troubles of it's own without giving anger a foot hold.
There is no true rest when we are stuck with "Why should I have to put up with that person? After all..." (With a little emotion this might go on and on.)
Why should born again believers have to be chained to their own anger? We don't need to drag it around with us. "Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice." (Eph 4:31)
How do we "let" these things be put away from us? We cry out to our Father in heaven Who can help us, Who has sent His Son into the world to forgive all sin, and to bring freedom to you and to me by His Spirit. Let's pray.
Heavenly Father, maybe the rock in my hand matches the hole in their head... maybe. But if I'm to find rest I have to drop the rock. Help us to wait upon You- to find our rest in Jesus our good Shepherd.
You have forgiven me because of what Jesus has done. All depends on Your love. Please forgive me for my unwillingness to forgive those who hurt me. Don't let me be trapped in bitterness, and lead me into Your light and love. Amen.
Today's very great and precious promise
"Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." (Mat 11:29)
We have God's Word on it.
