LIVING THE SOLUTION WITH DAILY INSPIRATION
We all live off his generous bounty, gift after gift after gift. (John 1:16 — The Message)
Have you ever looked at your life this way that all you have is a gift from God? I mean everything. We live in a culture that teaches self-reliance, which tells us “we” can do and become anything “we” want, and that the things we get in and out of life, both tangible and intangible, are a direct result of our efforts. But John is telling us a different story. He is telling us that all the good things we have in life are a direct result of God’s generosity and grace towards us. Life, in and of itself, is a gift.
Each day is a gift, each breath is a gift, and the fact that we can see, and see in color, is a gift. Hearing is a gift. Having friends and family is a gift. The ability to taste food is a gift. The ability to do whatever it is we each may do for a living is a gift. So why does John consider all of these things and more gifts? Because of our sin we do not deserve to even live much less have God’s blessings in our lives. But we have God’s blessing because of His unending, unconditional and extravagant love for us.
So don’t take for granted all that you have. Understand that it is all a gift to you from God, given out of His love for you and His generous heart.
