Sincerely
By Charlie G

People are generally self-seeking animals, grazing across the plains of life.
They don't believe in an ultimate consequence.
And that, I believe, may be what Hell is made up of.
Hell, I believe, is for people who do not regret.
Who do not ask for, nor worry about, forgiveness.
I don't believe there is any sin that once you've asked for forgiveness of it, sincerely, you will not be forgiven for it.

At the detox center where I worked, when a patient is cleaning up.
When the stuff they've used, not to feel good, but to not feel, starts to finally leave their bodies.
When they see no way out from things they've done in their past.
When they are crying, and vulnerable.
When they are desperate for someone to throw them a 'rope of hope' to pull them out of their guilt and pain,
Though they don't believe it is possible.
(Oh, do I remember that feeling!).
I ask them the following;

Who is the one person you love, or have loved, more than anyone else in your life?
It can be your daughter, son, mother, father, husband, wife, grandmother, grandfather, aunt, uncle, or friend.
Who is that one person that you would give your life for, willingly, so that they could keep theirs?
I tell them, “For me, it was my daughter Joy.”
When they tell me, I ask;
Is there anything that person could do, that would make you stop loving them?
That you would not be able to forgive them for?
If that person came to you and said, "I did this. I was wrong. Please forgive me."
I'm sorry.

Would you?
How could you not?
Then how much more do you think God is willing to forgive you, HIS child?
For whatever you've done.
If you just ask Him.

My two year sobriety date is coming up on Saturday. Been stepping back to look at the past, and what's gotten me to this point.
Not backsliding,
Melancholy.
