"It's All about Me"

“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” — II Corinthians 3:18 NKJV

When you get up in the morning and look in the mirror, whose face you see? Yours, of course. Today's scripture verse made me realize that when we humans look in our "spiritual mirror," we also see — ourselves. We are selfish and tend to think, "It's all about me."

But when you look in that spiritual mirror and see the glory of the Lord, you take your mind off yourself and begin to think like the Christ. "[Jesus] answered: 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself'" (Luke 10: 27). As you begin to think about loving others, you get the JOY that comes from putting Jesus first, Others next and You last. You begin to reflect the glory of the Lord to others and they are blessed by your presence.

Haven’t you known someone whose life shines with the joy of the Lord? He or she seems to brighten every room, and you are made to feel as if you're the most important person around. That friend has time to listen, to care and perhaps even to help. He or she is being changed "from glory to glory," as life goes on. How exciting to live like that!

Life is complicated and filled with many distractions. Don’t allow them to take your mind off your "spiritual mirror." Look in your mirror every morning and say with confidence, "This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it" (Psalm 118:24). You will find that the day will be much better than you expected it to be, for your eyes will be on the glory of the Lord and it will be reflected in you.

Precious Lord, guide me to look in your direction instead of my own, so that I may be a reflection of your glory. Amen.
