Live in me and let me live in you, for without me you can do nothing.
The fruits we are called to bear are the fruits of the Spirit, granted to us for our world. We need reminding that love is a verb, not just a warm fuzzy feeling. But fruit needs water, and this we can find in Scripture, in prayer and in the challenge of our faith community.
God prunes us, whether we ask for it or not, through the ups and downs of life. we can be concerned about being charged to ‘go out and bear fruit that will last’, until we realise that the word is ‘co-missioned’—we don’t go alone.
Lord, help me to remember that with you in me I am never alone and so I need to constantly keep in touch with you.
