This is a concept that some of you may have read about in various books. I first read about in Simple Abundance, although she does not call it a God Box. I have done it for years and have found that it is a very powerful tool in my life.

A God Box is simply a container large enough to hold a slip of paper. For you it might be a paper bag. I needed something more "ceremonial", so I chose a painted box given to me by a special friend. The purpose of the God box is to help you signify the "letting go" of your problems to God. Now, for you, God may be a higher power in the universe -- I don't think the name is important, the idea works for anyone.

Each of us has things in our life over which we are powerless. If you are like I am, you tend to obsess over those things. The essence of our relationship with God is the faith that God -- or the universe -- is watching over us and caring for our needs. Unfortunately, at times my faith is lacking. I pray and pray over the same things until even God's patience must be tried!

In those circumstances, I go to my God Box. I sit down and write a little letter to God. I outline my problem, my possible solutions, if any, and I ask for what I need -- wisdom, courage, strength, money, etc. I pray one last prayer and then I put in the box. I then walk away and don't pray about it again. It is a way of committing something to God with such a strong belief in his caring that we know we can walk away and He has it handled.

Another aspect of the box's reaffirming powers is that when you go back to the box you find the slips of paper you put in the last time you used it. Things that seemed very big at the time that worked out without a hitch are great encouragement when your faith needs a boost!

Using your own handwriting, choose special pretty paper for writing to spirit. Be careful what you ask for, for our hearts are always heard when they are sincere. When the heart sighs for Heaven, Heaven sighs for the heart.

You can date your notes, place them carefully into your God box. You do this whenever you need
friendship in the purest sense of the word. You do it when danger strikes and you need a reliable Presence to guide you through a storm-tossed strait. You do it when you want to request will power to achieve your highest good. You use your God box when you need comfort and guidance. You use it to ask for divine inspiration. You use it to tuck little pieces of folded paper containing heartfelt prayers. You use a God Box because action and beingness attract havingness. A folded, written wish is a kind of action that will make wonderful things manifest.

You can use a God Box on bad days to tell God what needs fixing. You can use it on good days just to send a telegram to Heaven and give gratitude. You can ask to have pressing questions answered. you can state affirmations, vows, intents, hopes. Heaven is not particular. It doesn't demand just one thing. It demands nothing, but feels and reflects YOU.

The God Box is a great tool for learning about surrender. It also taught me that I didn't have to carry everything on my shoulders. I am not in control of the world. I am not even in control of my little bit of the world. Guess what? The world didn't fall apart because I was able to surrender control. Control could be a whole other article. Not today.

As we do this we slowly but surely build up a relationship with
God.We put down what we are worreid about, and let God show us.

The universe operates according to the Law of Attraction, meaning whatever you think about is what you are going to get. Keep that in mind when making requests of the universe. For example, instead of writing “I want to get out of debt,” write “I want to be financially free.” If you’re always concentrating on your debt, that’s what you’re going to attract.

If you have more magazine clippings than you have room for on your box, hang them on a bulletin board, make a collage or use them to decorate the inside of your box.

There’s a slit in your box for a reason. You could lift the lid to put your requests or prayers inside, but then you’d see the other pieces of paper. The idea with a God Box is to ask the universe for what you want, then forget about it. There’s no need to be reminded of old requests every time you have a new one.

Only when your God Box is full should you open it and look through the requests you’ve made of the universe. Hopefully, you’ll be surprised at just how many of your wishes came true.

Once your God Box is full, it’s time to make a new one. You can start from scratch or you can redesign the one you already have, repeating Steps One through Seven above. It just depends on how much space you have in your home to store all your God Boxes through the years.

When you come across slips of paper with requests that have yet to come true, you may want to add them to your new God Box, provided it’s something you still want.

Live and let live.
Let goand let God...
