Hello my name is Gordon and I am a grateful recovering alcoholic and addict. Thru the grace of God and the fellowship I am sober and clean today. In the Big book page 132 it says "We have been dealing with alcohol in its worst aspect. But we aren't a glum lot. If newcomers could see no joy or fun in our existence, they wouldn't want it. We absolutely insist on enjoying life!" Today I am passionate about enjoying life and have been involved in a number of community and social recovery events. This year we had our 14th annual Soberfest Family Picnic and had over 2,200 attend. It was for the whole family softball tournament, games, rides, food, dunk tank, trout pond, clowns, face painting, free health screening, horseshoes and too much more to list. One month from now we will have our first annual Sober tailgate party for Michigan/Michigan State game. It is going to be so much fun with games, prizes, big screen viewing etc. That is how I do the 12th step. Promote sober events, be of service as often as I can, and not pick up that first drink. There is Hope I am living proof of that. As a good friend of mine says "Be safe, Be still, Be sober."
