I am trying my first post here. I know of someone who is a member of a forum and she seems to get a lot out of it. I am new to recovery and I am taking one day at a time. I guess that is what you are supposed to do. I can relate to so much of what I have read. Honesty is a huge piece for me. I sometimes do not know who I am anymore when I think of all the lies I have told. It has all been focused on getting that last high. I do know that each time you go back out it is 10X worse when you come to your senses. My family is struggling with the whole disease thing. They seem to think I am just a bad apple. Anyway I hope to read more and hopefully my ranting will help someone too.

hi
I am glad to find this online recovery thing
I am new to using the internet for this kind of help
I am suffering from trying NOT to use the internet for an escape or as a substitute for medicating my feelings since I can't use drugs or alcohol anymore to do that :9:
thank you for providing a healthy place on the Internet for people like us/me

Thank you all for a warm welcome. It is amazing to me the fellowship that we share because of our common experience. We have been through the storm and we can help each other. I am trying to be proactive in my recovery and asking for help in difficult situations. I believe this chat will help me in between meetings and those lonely situations that often have lead to using. I am turning to my Higher Power each day and giving my life over to Him. at times it is hard because I want to keep grabbing my life and controling. I guess that is what got me in trouble in the first place. I look forward to making some new friends and feeding off the wisdon on this site.

:84: Congrats on your decision to "surrender to win"
You can do this, one day at a time, with the help of the fellowship and your HP.
Look forward to getting to know you both.

Hi there!
I'm new too, so you're not alone in more ways than one. I know what you mean about the addictive quality of the internet, but I'm choosing to view it as a better addiction than the one I've got at the moment - new playmates and all for a while perhaps!
Good luck - I'll be alongside ya!

I got on here this morning looking for some support. Last couple of days or I guess the last week I have been feeling very irritable. I was told by someone that this could be a result of post acute withdrawal? I don't know if any of you have experienced that or if you could let me know your opinion about it. It would sure help me. Thanks!

Yes (((Donny))) the fellowship here and in and around AA/NA/CA/ etc... keeps on amazing me every single day. It's beautiful to be able to say that we have so much support available to us all around the world and that we can share our stories to members that knows what we have been and are going through.:29: :29: We are so fortunate. So please keep coming back and vent or anything else as much as you desire.
