i'm really not sure about this whole thing. i was looking for the serenity prayer when i came across this site and figured i should give it a go. i am both an alcoholic and a drug addict and was diagnosed with severe depresion 4 days ago. since then i have not drunk or smoked or snorted anything because the antidepressants that have been prescribed to me have "increased suicidal tendancies" and i dont want to want to screw this up. my history is pretty much the same old thing. i was raped at the age of 14 by my gymnastics coach and then physically and amotionally abused and raped repeatedly by a man who lived with my family. my father left my mum for another woman when i was 9 so i guess you could say i come from a bit of a broken home.
i have never said this to any of my friends, they dont know.
i'd just like to know what other people have been through and what advice they can give me.:confused:

Hello and Welcome Torshy :17: Congrats on your 4 days. :1: Glad you found us and thanks for sharing. One of the great things about people in recovery is that we all understand where you are. You have recieved some great suggestions. :1: One thing that helps me is to try and take things One Day At A Time. Sometimes, one hour at a time or even one minute at a time. When I was first getting sober, I tried to keep my hands busy and that helped keep my thinking quiet and time seemed to pass a little faster.

I am addicted to Precription pain killers and I am having alot of trouble stopping. So today I said no more but it is really hard and its just my first day I am crying uncontrolably and I dont know why

I myself am addicted to pain killers ,so I know the misery your going thru its not easy BUT I HAVNT TOUCHED ANYTHING IN OVER 8 MONTHS & YOU 2 CAN DO THIS 2...you're not alone anymore. we're here for ya .. you wanting to do this is the 1st part .. does any else know about this that can help you ?? wife maybe???? help with the ween down part ... have you detox yet???? may want to talk to doc?? please keep coming back & sharing with us ... we need youhere !!!!!
