Yesterday Cyber Recovery has been online for 5 years! :29: It feels a lot longer. The reason for putting up a recovery site was my desire to give back to others what has been given me. Here is the history of Cyber Recovery:
September 28 was 5 years that cyberrecovery.net has been online. I put the first message board up for it October 7, 2003. We moved around alot the first year to different message boards. Being unfamiliar with them, I was looking for one that would fit our needs and be simple to use also and we wound up with this one which I put up around June 2006. We have made it through a few hacks, site crashes and so on and continued on with recovery through it all.
I originally started out with Tammy's AA Links in January, 1998 and a little later changed it to Tammy's Recovery Links. I made a page for Daily Readings in 1999, also posted them on a message board I was a member at, at the time and started sending them out in email March, 2000 to 3 people who requested to have them sent to them. I stopped sending them while I was out for a few months drinking but when I came back June 23, 2000, I have been sending them out in email ever since and posting them daily. I can't even count how many people receive them in email now - too many to count. I only send them to those who request them.
How Tammy's AA Links came about.
There was an AA chatroom I visited all of the time at the end of '97 and people would come there looking for recovery things and I was very good at finding stuff online and could quickly get them the information they sought. I started bookmarking everything and eventually with the help of my hubby put up Tammy's AA Links to make the recovery links I collected available for others to find all in one spot. Then as others put up new recovery sites they would contact me to add their links and over time the site grew. To start with it was one page and looked like this: http://www.ipass.net/a1idpirat/trecoverylinks.html
Now it looks like this: http://www.ipass.net/a1idpirat/tAA.html and
http://www.cyberrecovery.net/
This was the link for the original site http://www.ipass.net/a1idpirat/tAA.html . Before I made the changes to it I saved it as http://www.ipass.net/a1idpirat/trecoverylinks.html to have a reminder of where it all began.
How Cyber Recovery came about.
I had for a long time wanted my own domain name for a recovery site but just didn't know what I wanted to name it. I awoke that Sunday morning on September 28, 2003 with this voice telling me in my head to go to the computer. I say this voice was God. So I went to the computer and I heard this voice say the name Cyber Recovery so I went to where you buy domain names and put in cyberrecovery.com but that was taken but cyberrecovery.net wasn't and so we had a name and we have grown ever since and helped many. :1:
Everything I have learned about the behind the scenes stuff of having websites I have learned along the way through trial and error, with the help of my hubby and a few online friends and mostly with the help of God. There are times when I wanted to do something and just couldn't find the answer no matter how much I searched but when God was ready for me to know He revealed it to me.
There is alot more to the story but I will keep it short and sweet. It is not always easy stepping out on faith but with God's help and a few friends and family you can make it. :D
Today Cyber Recovery is what it is because of all of you here. I appreciate everything you all do here and love you all very much. Keep on keeping on! :1: :29:
