Extol His Work

“Remember to extol his work, which men have praised in song.” Job 36:24

Our God is an awesome God! One needs only to take a look outside and see the wonders of the

creation that surrounds us. Look at the intricate way He created the flowers. Observe the way the

universe operates, in an orderly fashion. There is so much that surrounds us that would cause us to

marvel at the great Creator. Beyond that, there is the way in which He works in our lives. He does

amazing things through very surprising means. I am in awe of the way God causes growth in my life.

He has taken me down pathways I did not want to go. He has given me experiences I would rather

not have had, but in the end He has brought about growth that I could never have imagined. When I

look at the scars that sin has left, I see the transformation that is only possible through my Savior.

Men have praised God for generations. Moses praised a God who transformed him from a simple

shepherd to a leader of the nation of Israel. David sang of God’s worth, for he knew how often God

had reached down and saved him from harm. Charles Wesley was a prolific hymn writer in the

1700s and wrote over 6500 hymns of praise, among them, "Praise The Lord Who Reigns Above,"

where he extols,

“God, in whom they move and live,
Let every creature sing,
Glory to their Maker give,
And homage to their King.
Hallowed be thy name beneath,
As in heaven on earth adored;
Praise the Lord in every breath,
Let all things praise the Lord.”

Let each of us join these men in remembering to extol the works of our God. Let us lift up our voices

in song and sing of the wonders He has performed in our lives. Let us never forget what miracles

have been wrought by His hand!

God, you are an amazing God. You have performed wonders in my life. You have lifted me from the

pit and caused me to bring you glory. I thank you for all that have done in my life and I praise you for

all that you will accomplish in the future. Above all, I pray that my life might bring you all the praise

and honor you deserve. Amen Quiet Waters

The bright illumination of God's Light

Enter into the Presence of God, our Father, with the offering of a heart filled to overflowing with love and worship Him, the Creator and Lover of our souls.

This is the first and the greatest of all that He requires of us, is that we love Him with our whole heart.

Anything done without love in our hearts toward God, for God or in the Name of God is unacceptable to God.

All deeds done without love are done under the shadow of darkness and no reward will be received for them in the Kingdom of Heaven.

All things done with love in our hearts are done under the bright illumination of God's Light and will be justly rewarded in God's Kingdom.

God is Love.

Love is the Light of God.

Devotional For Dieters

October 16

John 19:11
Jesus answered, 'Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.'

How much easier our lives would be if we could quit fighting the fact that all power comes from God. We want control of our own lives, and we like to think we can stand on our own two feet. The reality of the matter is that we have received everything we have from the Lord. He has given us our abilities and talents, He has given us our resources, and He gives us our opportunities. The truly strong person is she who understands that God is the source of all power. If we want the power to diet, it can come to us only through the Lord God Almighty, who loves His children and offers them everything they need.

Today's thought: God is greater than my desire to eat!

AN EXTRA HELPING OF GRACE

“No one among us has been able to maintain anything like perfect adherence to these principles.” Alcoholics Anonymous, page 60

“And may the Lord our God show us his approval and make our efforts successful.” Psalm 90:17

For what it's worth: Before sobriety in Alcoholics Anonymous, I had discarded all principles I had and I was wandering aimlessly downhill into hell. Fortunately, in recovery I was given a set of principles for a sober and happy journey through life. Some days are uphill, and I struggle to maintain the course rather than turning back to my old ways. Although I certainly can not feel it on those days, I can not help but wonder if my Higher Power is not smiling down on me a little more, giving me an extra helping of grace.

God bless you!
