Today is day three for me...third day without a drink. I have tried to stop before, many times. I am hoping that the difference with this time is me. I am stopping for me. Before I was stopping for my family, mainly my kids.

Stopping for yourself is always a good reason! I have a couple of reasons, but for myself is also one! I'm glad that you joined this forum; the people here are very kind and supportive. Have you ever thought about going to an AA meeting? About a month ago I was terrified by the idea, but the meetings are really good. You can find one in your area by going to this link: AA Meeting Finder (http://www.aa.org/lang/en/meeting_finder.cfm?origpage=29). Take this all one day at a time; today is all we have! Hugs! :42:

Congrats on 3 days sober !!! That's FANTASTIC !!!!!!!!! Doing it for yourself is the only way that I can do it. I just can not pick up that first drink or drug today. This is truly a one day at a time program. I need to live my recovery for this next 24 hours and use the 12 steps as a guide for living and everything will be OK. Getting a sponsor ASAP was a must for me also. GOOD RECOVERY TO YOU !!!! My prayers are with you. :85:

Hi 4menow...to do it because we want it for ouselves, was my cornerstone to recovery this time around. It was alway so important to me how I was being judged. My intentions were never enough...Its my actions today, and why (me), that is making the difference...3 days is huge! keep it up...Don't try to do it alone...We're here for You! Your Friend in Recovery...Mike

Hello and Welcome 4menow :103: Congradulations on your 3 days :150: I know what you mean, been there done that. I did it for my wife and my kids and my job and all that still didn't mean anything to me because I relapsed. What I actually had to do and say and admit to myself when I was really ready to stop drinking that I was doing it for ME. and no one else or nothing else. Thanks your on the right track.:42:
