mixed emotions

i am a mother in law (now ex mother in law) of a drug addict she is a 33 y/o girl who i loved ,and still do she was an addict and mother of 3 kids when my son married her, and they were married for 4 years she had many relapses and now has lost her husband, her home, and now her children i am so angry and disappointed and so sad, because she left her wonderful kids for drugs i do not understand it ,how that could happen we got along so well and now she basically only calls when she wants something, cause she knows i have been always there for her well, i still see the step grandchildren , and so does my son, but she has hurt them so i should hate her,but i dont i go from sad to angry, to forgiving, to, ? i dont know are there any answers:

I'm in a 12 step program for my alcoholism and in our book, which we call the Big Book, it says "alcohol is cunning, baffling, and powerful. Without help it is too much for us."

There is a 12step fellowship for friends and family of the addicted loved one. It's called Al-anon http://www.al-anon.alateen.org It may help you.
