I have become an alcoholic over the last 5 or so years... it funny, up until I was 35 years old or so could not stand alcohol. Did not like the felling, smell or taste. Now I drink every night. Blackouts are common and every time I start drinking I say to myself “just one, just to chill...”
That’s were I’m at.

:17:Welcome Renzo, We’re glad you're here! :42: You are describing how I use to drink. Once I took that first drink I could not stop until it was gone or I was out. It was a vicious, progressive cycle. I had taken alcohol to a place where I finally ended up basically alone and my inside was contently dark and empty. I knew nothing but sadness and pain.
I finally was lead to A.A. This is were I, finally, was able to put the drink down, one day at a time, learned about what alcoholism is and what I could do about it. I’m very grateful to report that it was the best thing I’ve ever done for me and those around me. We want to help you too! :42: http://www.aa.org (http://www.aa.org/) Here’s a link to A.A. and CRF is always here to help and support you. Check out the forums and let us know if you have any questions.
Again, we’re glad you’re here! :42:

Been off all day with this election. This would be a day I would normally start drinking by now. Not much going on in my head. Can’t say I feel like drinking today kind of cold and numb…
Glad that I found you.

That's right Renzo, we all just do this one day at a time and for me sometimes I can only do it a minute at a time. What I remember is that I never have to take another drink, if I don't want too and I have a fellowship of people who are here to support and encourage me. My struggle is not easy but I am not alone.

Hi Renzo,
Welcome to CRF. Glad you are here !!
Only you can say wheter or not you are an alcoholic. But if you are, not drinking alcohol in any amount or in any form is the only way that I can have any hope for a happy life. The 12 steps and God, my higher power, as well as my sponsor (a sponser is a must for me !!!) are my the guides to a new and wonderful way of life for me in recovery. If you choose to begin, just don't drink for today and get to meetings everyday, as many as you need to stay sober. GOOD LUCK !!!! :1:
