I'm tired of writing "drank too much again last night, very hungover" in my journal! I am tired of thinking of excuses to keep drinking, e.g. lonely, isolated, bored, want to have fun, everybody else is doing it, this is a special occasion, you get the picture. I am the granddaughter/mother/sister of an alcoholic/addict. I'm afraid I'm turning into the proverbial drunken little old lady.
Thanks for any and all support.

:67: We are here for you. There is much support and encouragement here for you. The road ahead will not be easy but it will be worth it. The best thing is that you do not have to travel it alone. Please make yourself at home and if there's anything we can do specifically to help, let us know.:42:

Someone once told me that I didn't have to drink if I didn't want to, and if I didn't pick up that first drink I wouldn't have to write got drunk, don't remember in my journal the next day. Simple yes, easy no. I went to AA to get support with my desire to quit drinking and stay quit. They were right. That hasn't been a journal entry of mine for more than 17 years.

:17:Welcome DixyChik, we're glad you here.:42: I drank until I was sick and tired of drinking and still could not stop. I had hit a place where there was nothing else for me to do but die or ask for help. I ask for help, first from that God that I didn't think cared about me and then a bunch of recovering drunks who helped and are still helping me. One Day at a Time. If you haven't tried A.A. yet, please do. They helped me like no one else could.

Please let us know how you're doing. :42:

You are not alone--anymore! :42:
