Hello, you can call me Hillbillyharley or Mike I am 41 years old.. I have been addicted to opiates for 16 years. I was the guy as a teen and young adult that NEVER durnk alcohol smoked pot (that was what was "in" during the 1980's) for the younger folks, and by no means took any type of pills! I started lifting weights and went from a skinny kid to being called Big Mike from 105 lbs at 20 years old to 205 lbs at 25. So being the strongest guy at work I was asked to roll a safe on a dolly (handtruck) which was around 800 lbs and hurt my back the doc I was seeing had me on Vicoden ES and stayed on them for 5 years he was giving me 90 Vicoden and 20 of the then new Lorset 10/650 every week with the instructions to fill the scrips at different drug stores (this was after about 3 years he didn't have me on that much at first of course)... The well run dry in 1998 as my doc lost his license for "you guessed it" over prescriding pain killers..so I was screwed I ended up going to a Methadone clinic and stayed there for around 7 years detoxed down to 10 mgs of Methadone. I thought I can do this no problem, well let me just say this I didn't make it ,maybe 4 days and I was at my old doc his license had been reinstated and he had no problem with giving me norco 20 a week at first and ended up after 5 months getting 60 norco and 100 ultram every Friday like clock work I think this was his way of saying thank you for not helping the DEA when they ran him up the flagpole in "98" then I get a letter in the mail saying he has to drop me as a patient, and to come by the office asap he tells me the DEA was once again asking why was I receiving so many pain killers (thats his story that I don't believe) so anyway back to the methadone clinic with their BS I think methadone does work and is a life saver for many its the clinic itself (staff) that treats you like you are a POS (my experience) I have detoxed down to 10 mgs of methadone and found a very good doc that has taken me on as a suboxone patient they are all about recovery, support, help, God, and the doc has been down the same road we have so that has helped me more than ever. Well I guess this was a little more than you wanted to know. The pic is my baby girl Zoey she is 7 and the reason I get up in the mornings..

Hey Mike...Thanks for sharing your story. No. That's not more information than I want to hear! Our story's could fill volumes. My program of choice is NA. I go to as many as 5-10 meetings a week. I've become very involved with my recovery. I was facing death or worse, living life as I had done for too many years. I have found I have choices as I've learned to live in my program. I enjoy every moment of my life today...Come Back!...Your Friend in Recovery...Mike
