Thanksgiving Day Prayer

Heavenly Father, on Thanksgiving Day
We bow our hearts to You and pray.
We give You thanks for all You've done
Especially for the gift of Jesus, Your Son.
For beauty in nature, Your glory we see
For joy and health, friends and family,
For daily provision, Your mercy and care
These are the blessings You graciously share.
So today we offer this response of praise
With a promise to follow You all of our days.

We Give Thanks

Our Father in Heaven,
We give thanks for the pleasure
Of gathering together for this occasion.
We give thanks for this food
Prepared by loving hands.
We give thanks for life,
The freedom to enjoy it all
And all other blessings.
As we partake of this food,
We pray for health and strength
To carry on and try to live as You would have us.
This we ask in the name of Christ,
Our Heavenly Father.

Thanksgiving

For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food,
For love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.

--Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)

Father, guard us, guide us, bring us through in safety and ease on our journey today. Amen

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your great mercy and compassion toward us. Lord, create in us that same heart of compassion that You possess, not only for Your children, but for the poor and needy in the world. Use us to reach out and help them physically, as well as spiritually. Give us heart-felt love for those who are suffering in the world, and anoint us to share the gospel with them so that they might know You. Forgive us for our selfishness, and deliver our land from the curse that abortion and murder bring on a nation. May this evil cease in this country and all others nations in the world. I ask this in the name of Jesus.

November 27

Most gracious heavenly Father, Help us, Lord, to be able to recognize our limitations. If we do not acknowledge You as Creator, and as a higher authority, then we have only our human capabilities to sustain us. ... Open our eyes and help us to see that we who believe must pray for us all.

In Jesus' name we pray.

Amen.

My Joy and Crown

Philippians 4:1

Dear Father,

Help me to stand firm in the Lord, not only for my own sake but because I am someone's joy and crown, the object of their love and longing.

May I reach out to others to call them to follow the example Christ. Let them become my joy and crown, the objects of my love and longing.

Especially, Father, let me influence my family - spouse, children, in-laws, grandchildren - to walk in your way and to long for your day.

I love them dearly and long for their salvation. Draw them to your heart of love.

In the name of Jesus I ask these things. Amen.
