All Things through God

Philippians 4:11-13

Sovereign Lord of all things, dear Father,

How aware I am of my mortality! All flesh is like grass, and all its beauty is like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades . . . but your word, O God, will stand forever! I will not say that my way is hidden from the Lord, or that you, my God, have disregarded my rights.

Don't I know? Haven't I heard? You, Lord, are the everlasting God, the Creator of the most distant parts of earth. You do not grow faint or get tired and your understanding is unsearchable.

You give power to me when I faint. When I feel I have no energy, you increase my strength. Because I wait on you, Lord, you shall renew my strength. I shall mount up with the wings of eagles. I shall run and not be weary, I shall walk and not faint.

In the name of Jesus, for whom you were everything, and who taught me also to let you be my everything! Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for giving us Your revelation and vision. I do appreciate the light You give me as I am walking in a dark and fallen world. Lord, fill me with the Holy Spirit so that I will always be filled with Your light and love. Draw those who do not know You, unto that light. Fill my mouth with the right words so that those who do not know You can hear the gospel and come into the knowledge of Your dear Son, Jesus. May I practice good deeds in this life, so that others may see them and thereby bring glory unto You. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father, help me to realize that prayer, as C. H. Dodd has indicated, should not be a device for getting You to use Your resources to grant my desires, but rather a means for me to re-direct my desires to be in accordance with Your will. ... Remind me that Jesus said: "Whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you,"* meaning something that receives Your approval, and is made possible because I have accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. ... So let me think over my requests before I pray in order that they may be according to Your will; this may reduce the number of my requests, but it may also increase the number of Your positive answers. ... Let me take time to study Your Word that I may better understand Your will, and recognize the Holy Spirit's leading.

In Jesus' name I pray.

Amen.
