Prayer for Difficult Times

Your word is a lantern to my feet
and a light upon my path.

I have sworn and am determined
to keep your righteous judgments.

I am deeply troubled;
preserve my life, O Lord, according to your word.

Accept, O Lord, the willing tribute of my lips,
and teach me your judgments.

My life is always in my hand,
yet I do not forget your law.

The wicked have set a trap for me,
but I have not strayed from your commandments.

Your decrees are my inheritance for ever;
truly, they are the joy of my heart.

I have applied my heart to fulfill your statutes
for ever and to the end.

- Psalms 119: 105-112

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for the wonderful teachings we find in the Bible. Help us to apply these analogies to our personal lives. We can learn a lot just by observing Your magnificent creation. Lord, thank You for pointing out the examples of wisdom found in Your tiny creatures. Teach us Your wisdom in our daily affairs, so that we learn how to prevent problems in our lives. Lord, may we walk in love in all of our affairs, as that is one of the wisest things we can do. We ask in the name of the Lord Jesus. Amen.

December 15

Dear Lord Jesus, this is the season for giving, because You first gave to us. What can I give You? ... How simple it would be if I could purchase one gift, a really special gift, wrap it, give it, and be through. But no, I can not buy You a gift, can I? It isn't that simple. ... You want me to totally surrender my life to You. You want me to re-commit myself to You every day of the year. For You, Christmas was total involvement forever, wasn't it? That too, is the gift You want from me, one that only I can give. Oh Lord, help me to love You enough to want to give You this gift.

In Your holy name I pray.

Amen.

Discerning, not Deceived

Colossians 2:4-7

Dear Father, my rock,

Help me to think clearly with discernment. Keep me from being taken in by the beguiling speech of deceivers.

Give me great joy in manifesting good order in my conduct and being absolutely firm in my faith.

As I received Christ Jesus as the Lord, grant that I may live in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith.

Grant that I may do this with great praise and thanksgiving!

All praise, thanksgiving, honor, and glory to you, our Father, for what you have done for me through Jesus Christ, in whose name I pray. Amen.
